I went to a local lexus website and saw them advertising the Remote Engine Starter Plus (RES+).
Apparently it cost $700 and will allow you to use a Smartphone to remote start your car. Does our GS's have this option? and how exactly does this work?

It came with my 2013 F Sport , but now my 14 doesn't have it.

Unfortunately RES+ is not available for the GS. I read it was half baked and not very reliable from the RX owners who had it.
I assume you are referring to RES that uses the key fob only?

Get the Drone Mobile. Res+ is not available for the 2013 and it sounds like the 2014 also. I have the Drone mobile installed and it's worth every penny.

The 2014 GS is available with RES but not RES+.

Hmm never heard of Drone. In your opinion, is it better than Viper? Does it require a fob on the keychain? Lastly, do you have to restart the car when getting in to drive?

Yes. I've had a viper RS before and didn't like the interface. The drone mobile is an app on your smartphone and in addition you can start your car with the OEM remote.

Once you open the car you will need to restart the car. There is no way around that. Trust me I checked.

Ohhh so Drone is an add on to a vehicle that already has a remote start system installed. So I'm assuming you had the Lexus RES already?

Nope. The drone gives you the RES functionality. It's an added bonus as I didn't know about that until the installer showed me. 3 clicks on the lock button but I'll probably only use the smartphone as the range on the OEM remote still suxs.
