My OEM RES works perfectly even though I parked at the end of the parking lot at work (to prevent door dings). Even with 20 cars between the line of sight of my car, I can reliably start the car every time. The car even flashes its lights to confirm success.

I haven't heard of any two way remote starts from Lexus. As far as I know they only have one way systems available for the GS.

I don't have the factory remote start but I do have remote start using oem fob with a module called dball 2... I can start my car and shut my car off when I want to using Lexus oem fob. Works just the same way as the factory remote start except I spent less than 60.00 for the module and did the install myself.

What button(s) do you push on the oem remote to do this?

It doesn't look like a simple plug&play unit. I'm guessing his electrical knowledge is a bit more advanced than most.

it is not plug and play. require direct wiring. here's a photo of the unit... it also need to be flashed with the correct firmware in order for it to work. most audio and car alarm stores can install in. just order the module and have them flash RSR (remote start ready) firmware for gs350 13' or 14' and have the car alarm retailer install it. they might even have the module in stock there. I know cartoys have them.

Well that would be annoying. Why would it do that?

It does unfortunately. You can blame Toyota for their super cautious approach to everything.
