Does the 8 speed hunt a bit more? I wonder how it would perform in S+ setting as well.

Coming from a 535i it was a big adjustment going back to a 6-speed. They feel like you have power at all times and you don't have to work the engine as hard to get it. The only issue I had was if you were driving like 50 mph in the normal mode, coming up a hill and decide to punch it sometimes you could floor it and get no response because based on the way you were driving, it shifted a few gears up for fuel economy. Obviously if you were driving more aggressive before that it wouldn't be a problem cause it wouldn't have shifted gears that quickly. You can get caught in the middle between performance and fuel economy if you immediately change driving styles at certain points. But you could also just switch to sports mode if you wanted to punch it.

I just had to adjust to being a bit more rev happy with the GS350. In the end they are just as fast just a matter of how you drive so I'm good with the 6-speed. Car sounds much nicer in the higher rev range anyway But in my experience 8-speed is a good thing for sporty sedans. There is a reason the IS F has it and most other manufacturers are moving to it.

I have an 8-speed in my ISF. This may be Lexus' finest transmission but when I want performance (most of the time), I need to run it in manual mode to keep it out of 7th and 8th gear.

LMAO, me too! If I had folding mirrors and power trunk, i would consider my car perfect! I was so excited when I bought this thing when it first came out I didn't even realize it didn't have those options.

They should just drop in a 7speed dual clutch transmission and that will be perfect, with an LSD then handling will improve much greater that be a perfectly balance sport sedan

i expect at minimum, '14 IS350 F-sport features to cross over to the '14 GS350 F-sport, such as LED headlights, 8-speed, rear cross traffic, and possibly the LFA style gauges if they feel it isn't 'childish' for the GS model. (unless they say the 6-speed is a better fit for the GS's longer wheelbase and size)

and whatever '14 IS350 non F-sport feature should cross to the '14 GS350 non F-sport as well, so the rear cross traffic, LED headlights, etc.

the rest, such as power mirrors and trunk are yet to be determined.

FYI, the non F-sport IS350 RWD has the 8 speed transmission as well.
I've seen many people post that only the F-sport IS350 has the 8 speed. They are wrong.

I was talking to my dealer today and one of the supervisors told my wife and I that he recently came back from some Lexus convention in Las Vegas or somewhere and that Lexus made it seem like there wouldn't be any new features besides the Siri stuff. He seemed very certain about this.

I still don't think that I believe him though. I need proof!!!

He told me that it would still be about 2 weeks before he could go into the computer system for him to see all of the available options for the 2014 GS.
