I ordered these brake pads last week, should arrive this week. I have less than a 1,000 miles on the GS but the brake dust is ridiculous.

I had Akebonos on my heavy Audi A6 and I really like them. Never had to use the wheel cleaner. Additional benefit was longer pad and rotor life. I drove 60K miles and the pads and rotors still had quite a bit of life left in them. The original OEM pads and rotors were done after 25K miles.

For those of you who's tackling this job yourself, do you happen to know if there is a special process for rear brakes? My Audi had the electronic parking brake and I had to connect my laptop to the ECU to retract the pistons before replacing the pads. Thanks.

Have to keep in mind that you do not break in ceramic pads like you do the others. No hard brakeing to seat the pads.

Just changed out my brakes with factory rotors and these pads, but I can't get them to stop squeaking. Any tips?

You mean you have new stock rotor also? If it is original rotor, get the workshop to skim the rotor. That should help.

I replaced my brake pad with the stock type last week. The rotor was skimmed and it works perfectly.

Default Akebono A

I just installed Akebono part #ACT1118 in my 2013 Fsport . The easiest brake job I have ever done. after driving 100 miles in stop and go city driving there was no brake dust at all ! The braking is the same as the oem pads, The good part I was able to get the pads for free from Amazon. The pads are $47 and Amazon gives a $50 credit by opening an account. Can't beat a free brake job !

I put them on my 2GS, much less brake dust and did not notice any difference in stopping power, they were quiet, and lasted a long time. Good brakes at a great price.

Quick installation question, are these shimless ? Or do I need to install with outer shim and apply quiet paste in-between ?

I am installing these on the IS350 brakes. All the DIY I find are OEM brake pads installation.

Thanks.
