Default Rear differential itself is the rear jack point?

Is the rear jack point for a hydraulic jack the rear differential itself, or is the rear jack point the black colored thin/narrow rear suspension subframe ie the narrow suspension subframe directly behind the rear differential?
I think the rear lateral suspension arms, and the rear wheel steering in the F Sport is attached to that black thin/narrow rear suspension subframe?

Do we lift the rear end up via the rear diff, or we we lift the rear up via the rear suspension cross-member?
I find that the black rear suspension cross member looks too thin/narrow to be jacked up by a hydraulic jack?
I'm just asking because the Owner's Manual has such poor quality diagrams, I'm unable to tell whether the Owner's Manual diagram is the rear diff, or the rear suspension cross member?

I'm not sure on the cross member but it's not the diff. The diff in a car with IRS doesn't hold the weight of the car like a solid rear axle would. The best place would be just in front of the rear tires. These are where the lifting points are for the rear of the car. Doing one at a time obviously.

That 2nd pic, the arrow is pointing to the rear wheel steering unit for GS's with 4 wheel steering. Not a jack point.

I looked it up, for my 14 its on page 627 owners manual, and you are right I can't tell by the very poor picture where the jack point is. Maybe someone else can help.

This isn't specific to the 4GS, but maybe this might help:

Confusing, as they seem to be lifting the rear differential in the youtube video above?

I have been wondering where the jack points are as well. I will check out my manual and post back if I can understand the diagram.

Yeah, they are definitely lifting from the rear diff in that video (albeit with a wood block in between). The rear jack point has always been a bit confusing to me as well. The front is more straightforward.

Like you mentioned, I would have thought the jack point would be that thin metal piece just behind the rear diff (and in front of the yellow arrow) in your 2nd picture, but I would be scared to lift the car from that since it doesn't seem to be thick enough to disburse half the car's weight.

Would love to hear some input on someone who actually lifted the car between the rear tires.

Below are 1st gen GS, and IS250.
The rear jack point has traditionally been the rear differential.

Do not lift car like mentioned in the post above!
The plastic bends and the car can fall in you! Please don't ask me how I know this :/

The rear diff is the jack point. I can verify there's no issues when lifting the vehicle off the diff, but use a block of wood to prevent any marring of the housing. Also i lift off the place where the housing meets the rear cover.

I was very sceptical lifting off this point with my 370z even though it was clearly specified, but that's the common lift point on rear wheel drive vehicles. You'll get over it
