Bad News for 2013 owners and Lexus Enform Updates
Wow! Did you hear that Lexus and Apple teamed up for when you respond to text messages and emails, you can use Siri on your smartphone through the AUDIO SYSTEM of your Lexus cars and not have to use the cell phone or take your eyes off the road or hands off the steering wheel. Lexus corporation is saying SORRY, you cannot update the firmware or software of your 2013 cars no matter the model for this feature. Do you believe this???The 2013 Es, GS and LS have a new system that is already out of date in less than a year. Also, a free app as part of the Enform System allows for active weather and traffic alerts without subscription starting with the 2014 models. Again, not available on our 2013 GS. We still need to use Sirus Satellite as a paid subscription. I may dump my iphone for Galaxy 4 or HTC One that does allow for responding to text message and emails. Watch the skies for a falling curses. Hope they are wrong.

Are you talking about talking to siri to send a text message? My car does that... I don't understand your post.

OP, you read it right. i'm sort of pissed myself, it's a shame we are being spoon fed, it's the same thing Apple does... with all their products. you buy an iphone and 10 minutes after you walk out the store happy as hell, another version is released. damn shame.

I have had excellent Apple experience. I don't have an iPhone, but I can tell you their support for it is much better than for the android abominations. Yes, I have android (for two years) and I can't wait to dump it an never go back.
As far as the OP, things like this are making me take a long close look at Lexus.... not very cool. I may in fact go elsewhere for my sedan, sad to say.
WAKE UP, LEXUS.
I can understand introducing this in the GS in their next generation cycle, but to leave their 1st year customers of gen 4 hanging is not cool at all.

Not exactly sure what the level of integration is between the iphone and the 4GS, but even on my 2007 Camry, when I press the Siri button, I can speak commands via bluetooth. So to me at least, it's not a big deal to have a slightly better Siri interface on the '14s.

Paitence is a virtue. Some folks feel compelled to buy it right then and there, but yes the 2013 Navi system is already irrelevant because of the 2014 IS navi (which includes being able to say the full destination in one go and fewer voice prompts).
Funny enough, 2004-2006, 2007-2009, 2010-2012, 2013 and now 2014. Typically Lexus would release a new Navi every 3 model years. Apparently not the case anymore

This is definitely unfortunate, but it's worth bearing in mind that the 2013 model year GS is really a 2012 model year car. (I'm still not sure why Lexus decided to skip the 2012 model in favor of having a two-year-long 2013 model year.)
Obviously, what I just said doesn't apply to the new ES or LS. Definitely a missed opportunity given that upgrading both the firmware and software should be very feasible.
Do any of you have a sense of how BMW, Mercedes, and Audi handle software updates? Are they actually any better?

before we get all riled up here...
where you get this info? press release?
i can use siri through my audio system currently. i am guessing the op meant that there will be a dedicated siri button or the voice activation button is now linked to siri.
the 2013 4gs does have 3d maps outside of the US so i can see that being able to be integrated into our current nav system if they are willing to push the update out
