Just spoke with a top engineer with Lexus for their technology and the new Generation 8. Lexus executives decided to go to Generation 8 for the navigation/enform/Siri instead of doing a major firmware update on our Generation 7 system in our 2013 cars. They needed to adjust to the new smartphones and the demands from people like us. The engineers tell me that our Generation 7 can be updated for the use of Siri, etc but we need to keep expressing our complaints to Lexus Customer Service. There should be another firmware update in December 2013/January 2014 for our Generation 7 System. The 3D maps in use in Canada and Europe for our cars use a HD Signal. Our USA cars use the Sirius format. Our system can be updated since we can also use the HD Signal. We will see.
Good News! Lexus has tested the beta 7.0 for the iphone coming out late September 2013 as well as the 5s apple phones. Apple will allow us to respond to text messages with the can messages in the system or edit our responses. No emails yet. When someone calls us from our contact list, their photo on our phones will show up on our screen when the call comes in. So there is hope

just replace the annoying and dumb voice command and I'm happy. Better yet, let us dock our phone and replace it with google.

I know this is a super old post but was there an update for the 2013 Enform that allows Siri use or some additional compatibility with the iPhone? If so, what is the process?

Lexus makes a great DRIVING car, but holy HELL they really missed the mark on some of these and other issues...I have 2009 Cadi that far outperforms ALL of the media/display etc features as the '13 GS...plus my friggin music doesnt start the song over from the beginning each and every key off like Lexus.

My advise to Lexus: GET WITH THE GAME FOLKS!!!

No, Lexus didn't give us Siri Eyes Free. You can, however, get "good enough" functionality with the "Hey Siri" feature in newer IOS versions while connected through Bluetooth. (2013 GS Luxury/Iphone 6s on IOS 9.0.2)

Last fall I spent a lot of time on this subject... and in the end, the answer was no. The fact that I am still reading about this subject shows that I'm bummed and still very interested. I would have loved to have had this feature. Missed it by only a year!

As a person who works in technology, I'm surprised our system couldn't be updated by a simple software update.... I think it *could* be, but no one is willing to do it.

I read previously that it isn't about the technology/software update, but that it was a licensing issue between Lexus and Apple. I'd have to go search for where I found that statement and can't speak to its validity, but it would not surprise me if Apple and Lexus were unable to reach terms on adding the functionality to models already delivered without it.

Yeah I still can't get it to work on my GS...and I'm not that concerned.

I haven't been on this thread for quite awhile, but was reading about res+ yesterday and got the impression that by adding res+ would provide better siri capability. Is that true, or did i read too much into it?

I'd be more excited about CarPlay if it worked with Google Maps. I'm not a fan of Apple Maps.
