Default The Audi vs. Lexus Approach to Turn Signals

I've noticed that when the turn signal is applied to the new Audi, the series of LEDs that form the front driving lights (the "eyebrow") extinguish on the side that the turn signal light is flashing. On the Lexus, at least on my GS, the series of lights remain on.

I think I prefer how Audi did it as it appears to be a cleaner and safer approach and am wondering if there is a customization option for our GS to do the same?

I don't recall that being an option. I would have remembered during my 5k checkup.

The grass is always greener on the other side. There are numerous threads on the Audi forums about how people hate that the DRL shuts off on the side the turn signal is flashing. LOL

I do envy the Audi DRLs though. Their LEDs are super bright. Wish Lexus LEDs were that bright.

I like Audi's and don't like the LEDS shutting off when the turn signal is flashing.

When I see a car that extinguishes lights turning at an intersection I always think "hey look their light has already burned out" before I remember some cars do this now. In some setups (not Audi) it looks like the mfgr just cheaped out on the assembly and dual-purposed the LEDs. I prefer the traditional approach

Audi's rational for extinguishing the turning side DRL is because their DRLs are so bright, it makes it hard to see the turn signal flashing. The Audi DRLs are crazy bright though. One Audi driver last night didn't even have his headlights on. He was driving with just his DRLs and they were crazy bright.

Would be nice if Audi LEDs turned amber or had amber LEDS in between the white ones when turn signal in on.

Audi did that set up , because they know there lights are gonna burn out faster, lol, there not gonna last as long as the JDM cars., but just like Dave said the first time I saw it, I said already burned light, wow, but its a good idea, to eliminate the corner light and make the DRL turn orange when u turn the turn signal on, that would look sick.

I am actually glad that Lexus doesn't turn the DRL off, it looks really stupid. Audi should have may be dimmed it or something. Also, that is NOT Audi's idea BTW, it's actually FORD's to be fair to FORD. They have been turning the fog light off on the turn signal side way before Audi decided to copy the idea.

VW does the same thing, and IMO it looks retarded.

I did this too for about a year after the Audi came out with that lol. I would say to myself wow really Audi bulbs can't even last a year haha!?

I think it looks ugly aesthetically. Nice LED turns off so you can blink with incandescents. I'm glad Lexus didn't go that route.

I think it looks cheesy when the DRL turns off when the turn signal illuminates.
