Make in Japan or US?

Built in the Tahara plant, Aichi prefecture, Japan. In fact all Lexus models are built in Japan, with exception of the RX350 which is built in the CAMI plant in Cambridge Ontario, Canada.

2015 ES350 will be made at Toyota plant in Georgetown, KY.

Perhaps the real question is what is the US parts content of the GS? A friend that works at Ford tells me the US and Canadian made Fords have a significant Japanese content to them.

If you go to the dealer theres a sticker on the window that tells you the parts content.
I would assume 0% as jtrue mentioned. I don't remember what the sticker said on mine.

The 2014 IS I had today had 100% Japan content so I am sure the GS is the same.
FYI not ALL RX 350s are built in Canada.
To me I used to be "had to be built in Japan" and while I would prefer my Lexus built there it is all about management and company philosophy. I am confident in an Canadian or future American plant.
If we look at the American plants for Honda, Acura, BMW, Benz, Hyundai, etc they all are really good.
If people actually knew where their car was built, they would probably be shocked. I still have an Accord friend that refuses to believe his car is made in Ohio

^^ Because the Accords are still designed in Japan (and manufactured in sedan form for the Japanese market), at the beginning of each new generation, there is a small batch of several hundred that are made in Japan and shipped to the USA. The current Accord managed some ~600 units from Japan at the beginning of the current model.
That being said, the probability of buying a Japanese made Accord is approaching 0

BMW has a big plant in South Carolina, as does ZF, which supplies the transmissions directly to the BMW plant.
IIRC, only the SUVs are built there, though I may be wrong on that. Similar deal with Mercedes' plant in Alabama, SUV-centric production, though the C class will be built there, starting with the next generation.
