bnlexus - my apologies for not being clear. What I meant is that most people are paying MSRP or close to MSRP for the new 2014 IS at this moment where as there are discount being offered for the GS. I was offered below invoice for the 2013 GS. There are even better deals for leasing ($2500 rebate). You're right about GS being around 10K more expensive.

yep I completely agree and I think the GS is a great car. I like the toyota/lexus reliability as well. I only meant that the new IS is receiving better reviews comparatively (i.e. beating bmw 3 in CD) while most reviews for the GS are also very very good also.

I just got back from driving the 3IS, I drove a luxury 250 model and a F Sport 250 model.

I was very impressed, however the reasons for the premium for the GS IMHO are immediately apparent. Material quality in the IS, while good for its class, is several notches below the GS. The GS is significantly bigger, both in the front and the rear, the IS is quite snug, which its supposed to be. The GS has a fluidity to the steering and suspension that the IS doesn't have.

I personally would not choose an IS over a GS, but I think the IS would be a good purchase for someone looking for something cheaper than a GS.

Right now I agree, you can get into a GS for not much more than an IS because of the deals.

As for reviews, reviews were excellent for the 4GS when it came out. It won the comperos with the 5 series, E, A6, etc. Even a comparison test in BMW's own magazine sung the 4GS' praises.

just wanted to add a few things in regards to the rattles that plague only mine and neogenics GS, (everybody elses GS here is tomb quiet and has no wind noise either)

over chat, i told my friend about the rattles in my GS and he said how his e-class is quiet and rattle free. Was driving around in his car last week, rattles everywhere, and he said, "like how quiet and rattle free the ride is"?

i go, "are you serious?", "i hear a rattle here, rattle, there, etc".

goes to show, again, somebody might sit in my car and say they don't hear rattles or wind noise, but i hear them. rattles are in the ear of the beholder lol!

I however am someone who does hear rattles and noise and am bothered by rattles and noise. I can tell you 4 rattles our Jeep has right now, I made Toyota tear the dashboard out of a Prius we had because of rattles. I hate rattles. My GS has 11k miles on it and no rattles. If they were there...I would hear them.
