They IS and GX will definitely have the 3D NAV for 2014.

There is not an upgrade for 13 models.

It would actually depend on the current hardware. If there is enough memory and CPU speed to handle 3D maps, then it would just be the software update. If not, then we'll have to buy the whole unit / system.

I was thinking that but iirc the 4gs has the 3d maps in Europe and Asia. Unless the head unit has different internals overseas.

I doubt it. Even with the hardware capable for update, Lexus would say NO.

The 14" IS get the no fees traffic & weather update for life, even on non-Nav models.

Seem like our '13 GSs been outdated by smaller & cheaper sibling.

I’ve had my car 10 months now and for the first time last week I drove into London and noticed the sat nav change to 3D, so I assume it will only show 3D in certain places, like major towns and cities.

3D maps serve no real purpose, not to mention, the Navigation systems in all highend cars are pretty crappy, lexus included.

I live in NJ where the map coverage is 100 percent with Lexus GS 2013 map, but my Garmin 3790, destroys lexus (and any other navigation based on pioneer/kenwood/apex) when it comes to route info AND the local road names.

garmin also has the 3D map feature, most people keep it off.

bottom line, If i go anywhere long distance, i tend to use my garmin, and use the big screen to watch a dvd or something. far too many times my lexus gave me a crappy direction, but you wouldn't know that unless you've used a garmin in the past.
