Yes, they had to replace my entire cupholder mechanism just for the dent in the aluminum.

why are they so easily dent-able? (is that a word?!) Are they not real aluminum?

Have you ever tried to dent a beer can? They're real aluminum...

Hey guys,
Just received my F sport (bought it used) and noticed some small dings in the aluminum trim on the driver and passenger doors. Will my lexus dealer (not where I bought it) think I am crazy to ask for it to be repaired/replaced?

I was thinking it falls under normal wear and tear but looking at the rest of the interior, its mint!

Thoughts on how I should approach this situation?

Thank you,
Brandon

If you bought the car used and accepted it that way, you may not have any luck. However, it is worth a try. I bought my car new and had dents in the panel above the glove box and the cupholder cover. They replaced them for free. Now that I've driven the car for 10k miles and asked about having the driver's door aluminum panel replaced I was quoted $430 because they have to remove the whole door panel.

What do you have to lose? It is very expensive to replace the aluminum because it is a small part of a much bigger area. (They had to replace my whole cupholder mechanism to apply new aluminum.) See what they will do.

It doesn't hurt to ask right. I'm not holding my breath but I will see next time I take it in for service.

To me it seems like a faulty design being too susceptible to impacts.

Thanks,
Brandon
