Default Wheel (and tire) decisions!

I'm preparing to upgrade from the rather bland Luxury model wheels to something more tasteful. I'd like some feedback on experiences and options when it comes to wheels and tire sizing.

Let's start with wheel and tire sizing... I contacted Vossen and they recommended that I use a 20" x 9" + 32 mm offset front and 20" x 10.5" + 45 mm offset rear. The corresponding tires would be 245/35 R 20 and 285/30 R 20, respectively. This leads me to a few questions. I saw some older posts describing concerns over a 10.5" wheel width and 285 mm tire combination creating fender rubbing issues. It seems as though many are running this size combination, and since I have AWD I will have additional fender clearance, but is this a legitimate concern? Secondly, I have not been able to find many images showing the tire's sidewall angle. Is it very "stretched" looking? I'd like to look as though I have the properly-sized tire, especially as I will likely be sticking to a stock ride height.

Speaking of 20" wheels, how much does the ride degrade on the GS 350 when running such a low profile? Is it slightly firmer or unbearable? I was originally looking in to 19" wheels, but it seems as though the market demands 20" wheels, so some wheel selections are limited in "lesser" sizes.

Finally, does anyone have any wheel suggestions? I think I know what I don't want. I would prefer to stay away from a silver finish, as I have a Liquid Platinum GS, and I think the wheels should contrast (black or gray). I think two-piece wheels, with bolts, look a bit too busy for the GS. Otherwise, I'm pretty open. My current considerations are the Vossen CV2, CV3, or CV7. I like the Wald Portofino 21C wheels shown on the Lexus SEMA GS, but it seems as though they would be quite expensive and a huge pain to source.

Well I would say you can safely scratch Wald off the list, those things are horrible to look at. There are a lot of companies that make nice wheels (Iforged, BBS, Vossen, Volk, the list goes on but those are some of the top tier groups. I believe Vossen is Cast where the others are forged, so they may cost a bit more, but well worth it if you can afford it. Forged wheels are stronger, make the car handle and drive better as they are ton lighter.

The specs on the Vossens you gave are good and you should no worries, but you will have to run a 275/30/20 instead of the 285. It will be a little stretched, but the diameter is about 1/10th of an inch taller than stock. I think you should maybe find a wheel that has about 5-8mm less offset if you want to run a 285.

I was able to find a Japanese site with a bunch of images of GS models with aftermarket wheels. You must do a search to find the complete listing of Lexus GS images, but here is one to start:

The full gallery can be searched here:

For the 2013 GS350 We recommend running

20x9 ET 32 245/35/20
20x10.5 ET 45 275/30/20

Here are some examples on that exact fit with a drop.

Here is a video, hope they help!

Here you will see the 2013 GS350 running the recommended sizes. NO rubbing at all with this drop.

Same setup

Here is another

Those all look great, But if the rear wheel on those GS pictures was a 50 mm offset with a 285 tire it would be able to clear with no Rob and I think the profile would even look better

Mike at Vossen said (on this post on page 5: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ject-gs-5.html ) that the front tire size is 245/35, not 245/30, and the back is 285/30, not 275/30.

Just wanted to get this cleared up, so the previous post does not cause confusion.

"We followed the same theme as my GS 450h, so on the driver's side you will see matte silver machined 20x9 and 20x10.5 CV3s and on the passenger side 20x9 and 20x10.5 CV2s in the limited edition Matte Graphite Finish. There was varying opinion asking around what side they preferred, I would say it was about a 70/30 split in favor of the CV3 looking at feedback. The CV3 side really accents the sporty flavor of the GS and looks literally made for the car. The spokes seem to be the perfect width and the concave rears accents the taillights and fit perfectly. The CV2 side adds a sport flavor, almost "F-sport"-ish since its a matte/dark finish like the F-sport wheels/IS F wheels. You get a gloss lip and a mesh look mixed with the now classic concave look. Its less sporty but no less effective and distinctive in its own right. Tire size is 245/35/20 front and 285/30/20. "

Also on same thread ( https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ject-gs-9.html ), but page 9, post #124, Mike shows images of the cv4 gs from the video in the previous post. that too is on 285/30 and 245/35.

"Full Photoshoot/Video to be released soon...this is the first place it has been posted outside of our FB page

These are our new CV4 Concave Wheels 20x9 | 20x10.5 with 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 tires. We have these in stock in limited quantities so contact your Vossen Wheels Dealer!!!

This finish is Matte Graphite Machined. It is also offered in full polish and matte graphite. "

I'm looking at a Volk G25 wheels in 19" x 8.5" + 45 mm offset. If I used 245/40 R 19 tires, would these provide a fitment similar to a stock F Sport model (albeit with a marginally wider rim and tire)? It looks pretty close using this calculator. Also, where are some good online sources for Rays/Volk or Work wheels?

That would lead to a significant overall circumference difference front to rear which I would think might be a problem for the AWD system.

Those volks look amazing, there are some shops in the U.S. that sell them but most of their styles arent availble. You would have to look into the jdm market and their prices are ridiculous because of the conversion rates....
On a side note every time I see a gs with vossens, it makes me want to pull the trigger, but I know they would get destroyed in the city just in one trip in 20s.... you guys ever think about making 19 inchers?

I got my Work wheels from http://www.ravspec.com/. But, be prepared to wait for the custom offsets/widths from Japan. I had to wait for 3 months before they were shipped to my front door.

I would recommend this .. Gram Lights 57Xtreme SP Spec. This is my 1st choice when i wanna change my rims but they were out of stock in Japan & need to wait 4 months for it! i can't wait so ...

I'm using this now... WedsSport SA60M... Great rims too... about 10kg for a 19", comsidered quite light for a 19" rim....Never regret getting this! Very good quality & light rims. & the look is growing on me more than the Gram Lights 57Xtreme

My assumption is that the stock non-F Sport AWD wheels are 18" x 8" + 45 mm offset. The only difference between the non-F Sport wheels and F Sport wheels is the diameter, which increases to 19". Is this correct?

I've seen a few Lexus models that look great with the Vossen VVSCV1.Matte silver and graphite.

I just put CV7s on mine and I love them. No rubbing at all. I believe they are 9" in front and 10.5" rears. The tires I got are Delinte 245/35ZR20 on the front and 275 out back. As expected, the ride is a little firmer than stock. I guess it is a little closer to how the car would feel in sport+ with stock wheels/tires.

Here are a few pics

The 20 inch wheels look fine without lowering springs. My AWD model would sit another half-inch higher, but I don't know how noticeable that would be. yardie876, your color combination is exactly what I envisioned, Liquid Platinum with graphite wheels (in Vossens at least). My only pause if the fact they are matte finish. It's a shame they aren't available in gloss.
