How Good is The AWD System!

You're going to need a snow plow attached to the front. Good luck and stay inside!

used my snow mode a few minutes ago, you can tell the difference. although i'm taking it slow anyway... not trying to slide into objects, houses, trees, garbage cans. about to pick up wifey from work so i'll test the AWD system.

We have only had few inches so far this year, so I haven't had the opportunity to play. I'm a little jealous!

This morning I did a hard stop on ice (just to see...) and at very slow speed it took a while to stop. It did stop thou while i could feel the tires trying hard to stop (by counter spinning?), BUT I wouldn't test it on normal driving for sure.

just returned home from picking up the wife. there isn't enough snow out yet but there is alot of slush and ice. the car seems to be remaining steady at certain speeds, no slipping or sliding. i'll know for sure tomorrow when the real snow is on the streets.

I turned on snow mode today and I felt a difference, in the rain anyway lol. You guys get snow, we get rain and 80 degree weather. Stay safe in all that white stuff and try not to drift too much.

I can't explain why but in the rain, actually driving through big paddles of water on the westside highway, the car felt steadier than the 3GS did- which it tended to drift in those similar circumstances. Why is that?!
...gosh! I've had this car for only 7days!

the AWD with Michelin Alpin PA4 on snow is amazing!! We have over 3 foot of snow this year (slightly below normal), & winter is only half way through. The way she drives over snow, puts many trucks & SUV's to shame. Temperature here can go as low as 30 below 0 C (~86 below 0 F)
Having driven Infiniti's AWD system, the Lexus is on par, maybe slightly better for traction, which takes more effort to drift (with traction & stability fully disengage). Lexus AWD is at the very least 30F/70R distribution, so driving with snow mode is not required, which makes it 50/50 distribution & slows transmission shifts.
Edit: 30 below 0 C is (22 below 0 F)

Hell man that's cold!!! I have the Alpin PA4 but the weather here in Michigan this winter is a joke. Few inches of snow every few weeks and rest is dry. The AWD is amazing with these tires during several snow storms we had in December. How do you like these tires on the highway at highway speeds 75 plus? Smooth, stable, comfortable? I am liking these tires more that it makes me want to get all season Michelins again for my GS to be used from March-November period.
It's starting to warm up now, but not enough.
With winter/snow tires, there is a bit of road noise versus my stock all-season Michelins. I've also driven the dealership loaner car (3GS with blizzaks), it seems a bit quieter (could be the 4GS has better sound insulation). The ride on the PA4 is very similar to the all-seasons MXM4s, very predictable handling which can lead to over confidence
I swapped the MXM4 off the stock 18's in favour of the PA4, will be getting the MXM4 19" all-season for my summer wheels (will be in production soon according to michelin).
FYI I made a mistake which I edited -30 degrees C is -22 degrees F
