Default What am I doing Wrong!

Ok so I've been getting poor gas mileage numbers I can't say I'm trying my hardest to get good numbers, but I swear these numbers are terrible. I seem to be averaging 16-17 MPG. I usually fill up when the needle gets to half a tank. What am I doing wrong.

You're not alone buddy. I'm hovering around 15 lol. It's purely the way I drive though so I know nothing's wrong.

i third that... i'm getting 14.4.... and with the 2013 ES350 loaner i'm getting 23.4. used to get 16.0 i the GS and now it's decreasing. i was told by a techie that... i could have gotten some watered down gas, and to let it run out and fill up again. i use BP 93 and i only frequent 2 gas stations. well, i let it run out twice and still the same thing.

miss your hybrid yet? I also get similar numbers, but I'm used to seeing these numbers. The 3GS I had before showed identical #s....

I drive a lot of mixed driving and I think the biggest things with this car are speeds under 85 and in general, not too much on/off with the throttle. I like how intuitive the tranny/motor are (easy downshifts for passing even in Eco) but I suspect it's not so great for mileage.

I'm getting between 18-19 in the city and 23 (actually reached 24) in mixed driving. I have a lead foot and drive mostly in Sport in the city, so I know it's not the type of driving. I have 6,000 miles on my GS, so it is well past the break-in period. Maybe I shouldn't trust the trip computer and start doing the calculations myself?

everytime i fill up the trip computer says i have 294mpg but when i calculate it i would get around 320. so it seem like the computer is slightly off. and also i was on ethanol free fuel, i am testing with chevron vs ethanol free and so far ethanol free is around 1.5mpg more than ethanol fuel.

Hell yeah, it was sold today and I was saying to myself that thing had great gas mileage. My service guy told me that I need to let it break in the numbers will get better with more mileage. I hope so as these numbers are no where near the expected numbers. Maybe its because of the colder temps, that we are getting these numbers.

About right with the winter gas, your mileage goes down by 1to 2 miles per gallon.

So instead of starting a new thread I thought, i'd use this thread. So my GS is getting better mpg, the warmer months do give better gas mileage. I had a range of 254, now I'm getting a range of 286 not a bad jump especially mpg.

When I fill mine up it shows 315 miles range. I'm getting 19 in town and 26 on the highway. I don't drive hard and I use Eco in. town with a occasional Sport+. And drive about 75 on highway. I have not been able to get the rated highway mileage however no matter how hard I try.

Keep in mind that when the car's computer calculates mpg, it is using the MOST RECENT measurements for injector pulse width and speed.

Try doing a manual calculation on a full tank of gas and you will be pleasantly surprised.
