What am I doing Wrong!

No one seems to believe me, but I consistently get 24-25 mpg with 100% in town driving here in Tucson. There are plenty of traffic lights here, but there are also stretches of a mile or two without a stop. All numbers are calculated based on miles traveled and gallons required to fill the tank. Mileage on the highway at 75 mph for the two 200 mile trips I have taken was only a couple of mpg better. With very conservative driving in town, I did average 26+ on one tank. I rarely use the economy setting. Mileage seems the same for economy, normal, and sport+.

i'm happy to announce that i am now averaging 19.1 MPG, up from 14.1. that's city. the SR stated that we will see better MPG after 5-8K miles. i know it was a bunch of BS but i am definitely seeing better MPGs. 9350 on the ODO. i pulled up the fuel consumption on the nav and updated after i ran all the gas out and refilled, and the new numbers popped up.

I only have 1,050 miles so far, but the MPG sucks. The car is AWD, but I am only getting 17mpg with 60/40 city & highway driving. I don't flog it either, car is usually in normal mode and I don't have a lead foot.

Glad to hear your mileage is better as the engine has broken in. I have almost 8k miles on mine, and I'm getting around 19mpg and never put it in ECO unless I'm on the highway (which doesn't seem to make any difference). I guess ECO might make more of a difference in the city, but I refuse to barely be able to keep up with a Prius.

FWIW
Our GS is less than one month old with only about 400 miles on the odo (far from broken in) and is getting the 23mpg 60/40 I stated above, the car is driven in eco mode and not aggressively.
I think you guys need to switch to eco mode and even though you're not flogging it, back off on the acceleration from stops/lights and watch the mpg's increase. You can use the blue ECO gauge to help your driving style too.

All those having low MPG, did you try resetting the counter? just delete the data while coasting on a highway, and update the record to empty out the average. you should get a fresh start. while coasting you'll see crazy numbers like 35MPG until you start using the gas paddle again.
Also how long do you warm up your car? Both average MPG and after refuel MPG gets hit pretty bad in idle, especially if you idle for a long time. the computer is just calculating distance over gas used and it's not really an exact science as the car guesses the fuel consumption by estimating gas pumped into the direct injection via the fuel pump.
change your display to show the MPG meter and coast whenever you can. I usually take off WOT at every red light for no apparent reason., and coast when i can on down hill... if the hill is deep enough, I pickup speed to get over another hill without pressing on the gas too much...
doing all this I get 22-24MPG.
Long story short, with the right mixture of coasting you can still have a lot of high spirited driving at a decent gas mileage.
