Insurance window on new car
hey guys,
just got a new 4gs f sport (i'll post pictures later) and was trying to get insurance for it. i currently have insurance now and was trying to contact the company to add the new car on but they will be closed till wednesday the 26th of december due to the holiday.
my question is, does my old insurance cover the gap until then? i bought the car today (sunday dec 23)

Not 100% sure, but I believe you have 15 days. You're definitely covered until Wednesday! Drive away!!!! I just got an F SPORT yesterday and it's an awesome car! Congrats and enjoy!

your current insurance doesn't cover the Lexus. i'm not sure how that works, you may have to wait. schillster says he's good and hasn't switched over. to be on the safe side i'd ask alot of questions and get confirmation on paper if you drive off that lot. that's just me.

In CA, you have 30days to get insurance. in the meantime, your current insurance will cover your new Lexus. Otherwise the dealer won't let you pick up the car if you don't have any current full coverage insurance.

I think that insurance coverage varies from state to state and between insurance companies although I have not heard of any that don't provide some kind of carryover coverage. And I think it may be different between a replacement car and an additional car. My son got a new GS Saturday that was an additional car and he called ahead of picking it up and was told he had 14 days and that the agency would be closed until Weds.
