Default 85 MPH speed limit in Texas

Have any Texas 4GS owners taken their GS on this stretch of highway near Austin? Any comments on the handling and noise at this speed?

Cannot answer about the GS4, but when we moved to Tucson, we drove over a long stretch of Interstate 10 in south Texas with an 80 MPG limit. My old SC400 and my wife's ES300 (both 1994 models) did fine cruising at 85. I did not notice any more wind noise compared to 70 mph. Gas mileage did not seem to drop that much, either.

85mph isn't that "fast" so to speak, i mean even in CA i see people doing over 80 left and right. i am sure the 4gs does just fine, it's far from the car's limit

I have been at 80 for long distances and a few times without realizing it I have drifted up to 90 as it is so smooth. But hard to keep it at that speed for any length of time here in MO.

and why would you need rear steering at 90mph? i hope lexus had the sense to deactivate that feature at high speeds. makes 0 sense

I haven't driven that stretch of road, but I've taken my 4GS up to 90mph on the Dallas North Tollway on a Saturday when traffic was light. The speed limit there is 70mph, so I only did it for a short stint. I consistently do 80 there (but don't tell anyone).

I was in Sport+ mode and the car seemed to hunker down more the faster I went. Just as planted and quiet as if I'd been doing 50.

At high speeds, the rear steering works in the opposite direction than at low speeds. That actually increases high speed stability of the car.

you should read up more on how rear steering works (at high speed and low speed, differently). bmw's system works similarly. it makes a lot of sense
