Default Phone contacts and email questions

Hi - I just traded in my 2006 IS350 for a 2013 GS350 AWD. I have some questions regarding phone contacts and the email notification/reading function. Should they be asked in this forum or is there a forum that is for tech questions like this since I imagine the questions I have pertain to multiple Lexus models.

Thanks for the congratz - I will post a photo when I get the chance. My ride is Fire Agate Pearl, which is Lexus speak for "Brown". I guess Luxury cars are like food at a high end restaurant - you have to make it sound sophisticated - like South slope Mountain Grown Madagascar Vanilla Bean Ice Cream rather than "Vanilla Ice Cream".

I really like all of the technology stuff in my car, but I have a few questions, here they are:

My phone is a Blackberry Bold 9900. The Lexus started syncing contacts and it got full around letter "L" so I guess I have around 2000+ contacts. When I look at the contacts info on my car it says 0 free out of 1000. I guess I am limited at 1000 in the car and I have hit the limit, so how do I deal with this limitation? Can I just manually sync contacts based on some criteria, like contact type (Business, Personal, etc) or should I be nuking the contacts on my phone to below 1000? Or is there some other solution? My entire corporate email list syncs to my phone, but I kind of like that and don't want to have to trim it down.

As a follow-on question - why limit to 1000 contacts? Flash memory costs almost nothing, so why not allow a lot more?

A question regarding Sirius/XM radio. When I store channels as presets it stores them as a channel number. Is there any way to store as a channel name instead? Channel 20 means nothing to me but "E Street Radio" is a lot more useful.

Regarding emails - I like the functionality where it will read my email. However so far I have generally just said ignore. But even when I tell my car to ignore the emails they show up as being "read" on my Blackberry, and also on my corporate email. Is there any way to change this? IMHO this is a bit of a problem.

Finally when I get multiple emails at about the same time it appears that the car only gets the first email and ignores other emails that come in just after the first email - I am guessing that other emails that come in while the "read or Ignore" screen is up get ignored. Is there any way to fix this?

The only reason that I noticed this is related to the last problem - most of the emails that came in during my drive to work today were marked read except for a few that I know never popped up on my screen.

Welcome--you will love your 4GS.

I will address what I can from your questions about the phone and XM. Right now my Samsung and my GS don't communicate about messages/emails so I cannot comment on those issues:
1. There is no tagging or separate phone books that can be used with the 4GS. It just takes the contacts out of the phone book on the device in order.
2. Not sure why the 1000 limit--certainly the memory can handle more. Might be related to a limit on voice recognition of your contacts.
3. I agree about the XM channel names but unfortunately you can only see channel numbers. It should be a feature that Lexus should add in the future.

There are a few Lexus Technology Specialists lurking on the forum--maybe they can answer the email questions.

Congrats on the car! Ive noticed with the blackberrys people were having issues. As far as I know, the iPhone works perfect. I would take the car to the dealer and ask them why there is a limit of a 1000 contacts as Lexus should be able to hold more memory.

yeah i would say take it back to the dealer, because if you sat there and tried to edit the contacts via car... that would take alot of time. with the XM, i doubt you'll be able to see the channel names in pre-set. BTW, i happen to like Fire Agate Pearl.

This isn't a Blackberry thing, it is a car limitation of 1000 contacts. iPhone or Android users will have the same issue. The dealer told me that when I got the car.
