I have one of the magnetic ones that I used in my old BMW. I tried to put it in my 4GS and it won't work because of that curve in the cd player trim (see pictures below). How'd you get it to work?

Okay, I tired a cup-holder one - Fuz Designs Everdock Go. And, as you might expect, it is too low. Since I use Waze a lot, it needs to be higher.

So the Proclip vent mount remains the best option for me. I have a very strong earth magnet attached to it that matches the one on my case. So I slap it up there and it stays - no holster type action.

The CD player option also looks a bit low for my usage case.

I'll take some pics and post them later.

I'm looking for a good one too and the best I found is Brodit - Proclip.

tknx is saying he is having one. Does it fit well? Isn't it rattling or something like that? Do you have with or without charging? Thanks.

I literally just have the vent mount and a strong magnet attached via double sided adhesive.

I use Rokform cases since I need a lockable mount for motorcycle riding, so the magnet works great in this case. I need to go to have a better looking mount plate made though... I'll take a pic today and post it.

Here is a crappy pic of what it looks like right now -

If you are going cupholder - I really do like the Fuz Designs Everdock Go...

It is a system, I am just using the vent mount without holster or other attachment.

Were you able to get a CD player option to work like the OP? For me, I actually like the placement there but if you look at the picture I posted, I have an issue with that top middle part of the trim.

What are these CDs you speak of? Is this something ancient primitive tribesman used while dancing around the fire after making a mammoth kill?

(I don't use a holster and instead just use a magnet, I could easily just pop off the phone and have free access. A holster mount might get in the way.)

How does the EverDock Go attach to the bottom of the cup holder? Adhesive?

There is an adhesive mount that it then clips into.

Default Mountek nGroove Snap 3 in 4GS

Amazon.com: Mountek nGroove Snap 3 Magnetic Car Mount for Smartphones and Mini Tablets: GPS & Navigation Amazon.com: Mountek nGroove Snap 3 Magnetic Car Mount for Smartphones and Mini Tablets: GPS & Navigation

Has anyone tried this product in their 4GS?

Mountek 3

I saw one guy did have a mountek in his car that worked and I tried asking him, but I couldn't get a response directly:

Here is the issue I'm having. I have one of the magnetic cd player ones (generic brand) that I used in my old BMW. I tried to put it in my 4GS and it won't work because of that curve in the cd player trim. Anyone know how I can get it to work?

I have the Mountek Ngroove but not the magnetic one and it works fine in my GS350.

Amazon.com: Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount for Cell Phones and GPS Devices: MP3 Players & Accessories Amazon.com: Mountek nGroove Universal CD Slot Mount for Cell Phones and GPS Devices: MP3 Players & Accessories

I presume the magnetic one would work fine - but I didn't want to try it since I was unsure if it would hold my phone (Nexus 6).

The curve you mention in the CD player doesn't seem to be an issue for the Ngroove - I think the part that goes into the CD player is longer than the curve in the CD player - and it also goes in pretty deep so it isn't an issue.
