Default How much should I offer for this GS?

Hi all,

I've been looking around for a GS 350 F Sport. My local dealer just called saying that they have an AWD GS in stock with following spec:
1) F Sport package with cold weather package,
2) Blind spot monitor,
3) Accy package: Trunk mat, cargo net, wheel locks

They have not given me a quote yet. Instead, they are asking me what pricing I am looking for. What do you think would be a good price for this car? Thanks a lot in advance!

If they want to play that game, the only way to win is to lowball them. Then you will find their price in the counter offer. Typically, the one who states their price first loses.

If you visit True Car, you can configure the car with the same options. Based on your location, it will show you the dealer invoice, average price paid, etc.

You can then get a good idea of how much you have to play with and how much you can low ball.

Believe it or not some dealers sell cars closer to invoice now a days due to the amount of resources that are out there for a consumer to find out all these details from the comfort of their home before walking into a dealership to play the negotiation game.

I might be able to help. Are you looking to lease, purchase or finance?

Invoice should be your benchmark.

Use Edmunds to determine the invoice price on the car.

I managed to get invoice less $1k performance drive credit back in March!

Find invoice, tell them 5k under invoice. That's a good starting point.

Thanks for all of your input.

The car is priced as having an invoice of $53,934 at TrueCar. I will offer $52,000 as a starting point. We'll see what happen. Thanks.

I think that is a good starting point, and see how much they are willing to work with you. Dont fall for the "how much do you want to pay a month" tactic

If you are getting the AWD model with premium package, cold weather, blind spot monitor then the MSRP is appx 55,927.00 then Invoice is appx 52,800. Lexus is offering a $1500 conquest rebate if you currently have a competitors luxury vehicle (lease, finance or own - same household) or a $1500 Lexus Loyalty. on top of that you should be able to get the car $1000 less invoice without even breaking a sweat and that's $1000 after their doc fee.

So if their doc fee is $100 then you should be able to get $1,100 invoice, etc... Your cost on this car should be $50,300. That should be the MOST you should pay, if 1 Lexus dealership doesn't want to give you those numbers go to the next. On the 31st your best bet is to go and make the deal. Come into a dealership and say, want an easy deal, give me this car for $50,000.

I leased my GS and got a 450 mile Demo for more than $2500 behind invoice.

If you are financing then you can calculate the exact rate before going there using a auto finance calculator available online (Price of car +tax+APR+DMV Fees+ doc fee). They can tell you that they are selling you the car for $50,000 but the finance is for a lot more. Dealership trickery.

Thanks for the reply! It's very informative!
