If You Are Having Trouble Activating Your SiriusXM Radio...
My 3-month subscription to SiriusXM expired, so yesterday I renewed for one year using the 1/2 price offer from SiriusXm. I tried 7 or 8 times yesterday using the activation phone number to re-activate my radio with no success. I spoke to 6 customer service reps and one tech support guy from the Tech Dept. over a period of 7 hours trying to get my radio activated with no success. I was told:
1. My bluetooth was interfering with the signal, so I turned it off.
2. There are too many trees in my neighborhood to receive a good signal. (My car was sitting out in the open under clear blue skies).
3. My car was too close to the garage. So I moved it into the street.
4. There was a world-wide blackout of radio signals affecting my update (told later by tech guy that this was B.S.)
5. Take the car back to Lexus and have them repair your radio. It is their fault, not Sirius' fault.
6. I needed to wait for 24-48 hours before I could try again.
So this morning I pulled into the driveway, called the activation number and explained to the lady what was going on. She immediately said she could fix it because she had the same problem activating the radio in her car. She told me to follow these steps to reset the entire system before she would send the activation signal.
1. Turn off the radio
2. Turn off the car
3. Open the driver's door for 10 seconds.
4. Close the driver's door.
5. Start the car
6. Turn on the radio to channel 001.
She then sent the activation signal and it worked within 2 minutes. Finally it worked because one of their customer service reps knew what she was doing. So if you are having trouble activating your radio, try the steps listed above. It worked for me.
