Ok. I'll admit before going any further that I'm a bit nuts when it comes to keeping my cars pristine... Here goes! Just noticed a scratched on the gum-like surface of my 4GS remote touch controller. I suspect I rubbed the vacuum hose on it while cleaning the car yesterday. See photo below. Any idea how to minimize it? Specifically looking to minimize the white produced by scratching the gum-like material... I supposed I could always ask my dealer to replace it but would like to consider other options first.

Sorry to hear. Not sure what you could do short of replacing the piece. They should warranty it at least once I would hope.

(Mental note to myself: Be careful when vacuuming the car)

Maybe try something like Armorall on it since that works for vinyl and rubber? Just a thought.

The piece can be replace easily and won't cost much. $50 bucks or less.

Yep. I would second that mental note. That surface is awfully fragile. Had to be a soft rub but still left a quite visible mark.

Good suggestion. Got nothing to loose. Will try and if it fails, I'll have the piece replaced. Question, the piece is rather small of course. I suppose it would be best to spray a cloth and then rub the damaged area?

Or saturate a Q-tip and run it along the scratch.

I haven't tried, but you can probably pop out the piece quite easily to try to fix it that way. When I picked up my car, it was missing the piece (they took it out in the showroom)

wow.....My F sport got the same scratch like that on the remove touch controller ... Seriously ...wow..I went nuts for like 3 days. Whenever I looked at it, i felt uneasy...but I got over it though. I have no idea how I got that scratch.

Tried Armorall and even Mothers Back-to-Black to no avail. I will call the dealer to ask about just swapping the piece, unless folks have other good ideas.

Yeah, the material seems overly fragile for something that will be used so much.

Mine has a scratch just like that as well, but I picked it up from the dealership like that after the 30 day check-up.

"Can you check the tires and scratch my car? Thanks."

Maybe someone will come up with an aftermarket cover because you will be using this every time you drive the car.
