Default F-Sport Side View Mirror Reflection(s) - Aluminum Trim Discussion

Many have noted an annoying, if not dangerous, reflection in the side view mirror from the vent and the aluminum trim.

Any fixes?

it's definitely one annoying problem. given the location of the mirror i am not sure if there can be a fix, unless you replace the trim

I noticed it for the first time a couple of days ago. Even here in sunny Arizona, it did not strike me as a major issue.

A quick and temporary fix is to cover that part of the striated trim. Vinyl or tape is the easiest way to go. I don't think Lexus is aware of the issue yet. It's probably a good idea to take it into your service dept and have them open up a record. Or contact Lexus Customer Care so they can put it on record.

in some way i can understand why other brands have brushed aluminum / cf / darker wood. problem here is the trim pieces being glossy. at the right time during the day, sunlight shines right through windshield on the trim and then reflect to driver right where the mirror position is.

today when i drove (my order car), there is actually similar reflection too. but since it's dark wood, it doesn't strike as obvious

fwiw, i have driven quite a few 4gs and at different time of the day. the problem happens pretty easily, and it's on both driver and passenger side

Yeah the trim is just at the right angle to cause the glare. One day all the glass (doors, back window & windshield) and mirrors will have anti-glare coatings like prescription glasses.

The best way to get rid of this is tint your windows- keeps the UV rays out and the glare.

When i first picked up my car that reflection irritated me, then it magically disappeared after tinting the windows.

My car has tinted windows and I can still see the reflection. It's not a big deal to me. I ignore it. If that's all I have to worry about with this car, I will be very happy.

basically making it brushed aluminum?

given all those dimples on the trim, it's a bit challenging

Default F-Sport Side View Mirror Refection(s) - Aluminum Trim Discussion

welcome to clublexus

reading the first page of the 4gs forum, i think it would be great if lexus has a fix / solution to the aluminum trim reflection problem on the side mirrors
