When I came back from lunch today, I locked my car by touching the indentation on the door handle. One beep and I walked away. Then the car beeps again In about five seconds. I take out my FOB thinking it is touching something in my pocket and the car beeps again while I held it in my hands. The car continued to beep every ten seconds or so for about 40 seconds. Any clues as to what is wrong?

Could be saying the Fob is going out of batteries...

This could be a silly question but was the engine still on or was it in accessory mode? I've had this come up a time or two with the hybrid being so quiet.

did you leave something open? sunroof, window, door not closed all the way? that's interesting.

I'm also thinking sunroof. My LS would beep if I left it open when parking. Another idea: was the other fob left in the car? Also did the doors actually lock?

That's a new for me. If you left the car running, when you try to lock it you would get one long beep warning you that the engine is on followed by 3 short beeps. If you left the sunroof open you would only get the warning as you exit the car.
I'll see what I can find out.

Has it happened since? No one I spoke with has heard of this issue. I also looked in the manual, and what you described is not a warning that is mentioned anywhere I looked. Sorry.
