They made me question whether I was listening to a lossless track.
Steely Dan - Gaucho is an excellent release for 5.1 - in both DVD-A and DTS. As is Elton John GYBR. Both play with good discrete output in my car, although not nearly as good as my home audio system (which should be expected). I have a ML in a 2012 LS.

I don't have the Frampton or Dire Straits DVD-As, but have a growing curiosity in hearing in 5.1.

DTS DVD's can play audio if you start to play the disc. Press the Remote Touch Device on the screen to show you options. Then Hit Audio, hit change and it should start playing the audio. I'm a VTS in Florida and just got back from the Lexus Training Facility and this is one of the things that they went over with us.

* I think this is the correct steps. I'm going from memory and don't have a car to look at physically until the morning.

Are you referring to DTS playback in the 2013 GS? Others have already indicated that the 2013 GS w/ML audio is not capable of DTS playback. Can anyone confirm if the suggestion offered by fubaracing is valid? It would be great if true.

I know it works because I've done it in the car. This is a loophole to get it to work, and it works awesome.

A DTS only encoded disc will not play.

If it is encoded in any of the formats I previously listed as compatible in ADDITION to DTS, then yes, you can select the compatible format and it will play.

But the Generation 7 system will NOT decode DTS.

Any new information on why certain DVD-As repeat at approx. 3 seconds when Auto Play is On and the eBrake has been released? I'm greatly curious why you have to turn something off when its not necessary when the eBrake is set.

Its been almost a week, and wanted to bump this thread back to the top.

My guess is getting a correct answer to this question will be difficult. I just don't think the situation is recognized or understood.

@MarkGS

Your assumption is correct. It is a matter of getting an explanation from the engineers/designers of the system. As of now all I get is "it functions as designed", with no real explanation as to "why" it was designed that way.

The competition here in the US has the variable guide lines - that should be motivation for Lexus.

I drove a 2012 Volvo S80 and they have the lines, which bend based on the angle of the front wheels, so they show you not just where the car is, but what path it is going to take. If Volvo has it, why wouldn't Lexus. The high end Volvo is not as luxurious as the Lexus, but Lexus could take a few lessons from their available technology.

My 2011 Sienna have predict line for parking camera. The new LS have cross traffic monitor. So my guess the 4GS have outdated backup camera & sensor. End of long un-happy story, Lexus!

Does anyone on the Technology Specialists Team know where to get updates for Gracenote in the GS? No one at Lexus knows what this is and all the other manufactures have a site where you can download the data for free.

That's a great question. I'll see what I can find out.

You mention "all the other manufacturers" offer Gracenote updates for free. Could you possibly reference your source? From what I have found only Chrysler and Mitsubishi do this. Honda offer free updates for a year.

It looks like Gracenote is updated when you update your map data. This seems to be the case with most manufacturers.
I'll have access to TIS on Monday which will hopefully give me more information.

How does Gracenote work in the GS? Any instructions or links on how to implement/use it?
