Default Applying suction cups to inside of windshield...

Just got a new radar detector in and I was just wondering if it is ok to apply suction cups to the windows? On the instructions it says that some cars ie. Porsches have some kind of soft protective coating inside the windows and that this surface can be damaged by the suction cups. I have a Blendmount on the way and wanted to test out the radar before it arrives.

I have been recording video and time-lapse using my GoPro 2 Hero and the suction cup on that is incredible strong and I have not noticed any residual mark after removing it a few times. It's a vacuum cup too, that may be stronger than the type you will use for the radar?

Ok. Good to know. Yeah, those vaccum cups are a ton stronger than the little suction cups. I'm guessing if you are doing ok with that then the suctions cups should be ok.

Just out of curiosity, does the GoPro2 (or the other models) have any option where it would automatically overwrite the oldest video when it reaches the storage limit? Or does the driver have to remember to delete old video?
(I had asked GoPro about it a year or so ago and they said that they didn't - yet. Just wondering if they added that option in yet). I'd like to have one in my car - just in case.

@Room4Tu - blendmount looks really neat! How are you planning to run the power cord for the detector? Is there a way to hook to the power near the mirror?

I have my Radar suction cupped near the roof line. Other than replacing sun-worn cups every 6 months. Nothing damaged.

It'll be fine. I had my V1 mounted to my windshield for years with suction cups in my 911 with no probs.

That would be a very useful feature especially for anyone that is using a vehicle under business insurance but unfortunately in the menus on the Hero2 that I have, there is no FIFO (first in first out) recording setting. I have a Muvi Gumball that does do that but the quality is horrible and strangely there is no upside down setting. (to mount these things tot he inside glass they are upside down so setting that saves a step in processing. The Hero2 is amazing, I just play around with recording roads / drives and highway time-lapse where I record 1 image ever .5 sec. then play back at standard 30 fps rate.

Could you post a picture for us? I want to install mine near the roof line too, but I lose the luxury of the sun visor.
