Default WSJ Article: "Lexus GS350: Loaded With Everything but Thrills"

The Wall Street Journal (3/30/2012) had a review of the new GS350. I don't care much about the rest of the review except for the description of the new navigation/information system: "...So it's possible that the 2013 Lexus GS350's new multimedia interface—built around a 12.3-inch, high-resolution, split-screen liquid-crystal display, a veritable JumboTron in the dash—is simply beyond me. And yet I haven't battled an automotive infotainment system so bitterly since the first-generation BMW iDrive. I am, frankly, stunned that Toyota signed off on this impassable, implausible, implacable hunk of circuitry masquerading as a convenience."
Can any of the present owners comment on the new, non touchscreen, interface and its ease of use?

I posted this review in the reviews thread and there's a little discussion going on there.

The review is garbage - the person has it out for Lexus. Not sure if WSJ has always been like this, or if they've changed since Murdoch's purchase...

He's an idiot and is with no thrills.he hated the look and some fellas of even the new BMW 3 series. Jeez! He even admitted he did not review f sports version in respond to my comments. To o.p the remote touch is easier to use with changes in the sensitivity settings compared to my 2011 535 that I got rid of. The Lexus is so much for fun and more sharper driving than my boring bmw. The remote gets things done faster. My father who uses mmi in his Audi loves this Lexus system.

Hard to believe with the automotive press getting giddy about the handling of the new GS that this one guy could find it boring. Takes all kinds! Maybe he drives a Miata.

If the writer likes the car you bought, he's a genius. If he doesn't, he's an idiot....

I found his writing to be pretty enjoyable. I don't disagree with him on most points except appearance. I also found the jumbo-tron a bit too over-the-top.
