I went to settings, about phone, system update. This allowed me to upgrade to the latest Android 4.0 that is vastly more improved, cleaner interface, more features, better input buttons, etc and finally integration to allow MAP. It also allowed my phone to become a dual carrier (GSM and CDMA/LTE) now! I can take it abroad and activate it for the GSM networks. I am very impressed now.

I guess you Re one of the lucky ones who got the update, my droid razr still has not gotten the upgrade push.

Just updated the Razr, I'm still having the same problem. It shows the message icon highlighted, but will not load text messages or receive them. I disconnected and reconnected twice! Anyone actually get this feature to work using their Razr? Am I holding my mouth wrong when I register the device???

You have to go into the Bluetooth app on your phone and enable advanced options. If you do not see advanced options, you do not have the MAP software to support text messaging.

Yes i have razr maxx. It didnt do messages before doing software update. Did you do it yet? If not, go to phone settings then go to about phone. Then click updates. You should be updating to the latest software ice cream sandwich android 4.0 version. It's a big step forward in features and look now. Then pair your phone again with car after deleting older pairing. It will work.

I have also followed the exact procedure, un-paired, deleted, re-paired (several times). Is there some setting some of us are over-looking? I've checked, have latest updates (ICS), looked at all options in the bluetooth settings and still no luck. I have the Droid Razr.

From a bit more searching, the message access profile on the Droid Razr is different than the Razr Max! Apparently the Razr has a generic access profile (I should say possibly). I have Verizon.

I too have the Razr Maxx. I upgraded to ICS. I have the message button highlighted, but like most of us still get the message that it can't download my messages. I spoke with my dealer's tech specialist, and in addition to reading me what was on this forum thread, she went to Lexus and Motorola. Lexus said the phone is not compatible for receiving messages. No luck with Motorola either. She did say to try changing the TTY setting (mine was set to off). I tried all three, still nothing. I tried pairing again with full TTY setting, still nothing.

Rexus300 - do you have any special settings that may be allowing you to receive email?
