Default Pinstripes and chrome wheels?

No, I wouldn't even think of them. My comment is that when I was negotiating on my GS the dealership mentioned there had been a couple of customers who had replaced the gunmetal rims on the F-Sport with chrome rims. Really? I think the gunmetal rims help make the car.

They also told me they would automatically pinstripe, tint the car and put nitrogen in the tires. Pinstripes? Unless it's a Mustang, Challenger or Camaro with wide sport stripes I can't even imagine. I told them no thanks.

If Lexus really wants younger customers to buy their cars they can't assume we want things like pinstripes and chrome wheels. I would never even have that option with an Audi or BMW. What's next... the gold badging from the 90's?

You are right. You should tell them to stop offering pinstrip. Seriously its terrible to do that to any car these days let alone a sports sedan like the GS. Your comments will be important for them to evaluate what they are doing wrong.

And dealerships wonder why they have such a bad name. The last time I had that issue was about 8 years ago buying an Infiniti. Most of the dealers in the Houston area were pinstriping the cars when they hit their lots so you basically could not buy a car off the lot without them.

I told them no way, and their response was that they would not charge me for them. I said "you don't get it, I will not take a car with pin stripes on it". They wound up buffing the pin stripes off with polishing compound. I felt like I was at Landmark/Bill Heard Chevrolet instead of a higher end dealership.

They did that to my 2010 GS350 in Tampa. They offered to buff it out for free, but since I leased it for my business and I rarely drive it myself, it is still on there. It's really tacky, but my employees don't mind. On my 2006 GS300 there is no pinstriping, but that is my daily driver and wouldn't step foot in it if it had pinstripes.

If I was in the states more often and had time, I would have made sure they removed it.

You're talking about Sewell right? They always to this to their cars. Sometimes they even put racing stripes on the cars. I saw a ultrasonic blue ISC with racing stripes from the hood to the trunk going across the roof.

Its pretty sad but it sells for them. Just tell them no and they won't do it to your car.
Most of the cars have pinstripes with nitrogen with a HUGE mark up.

Knew it, this actually works for them. This past saturday I was getting service done and overheard someone pay cash for a GS and they liked the pinstripe.

Pinstripes and chrome wheels are dealership's biggest money maker, they have to try to sell it on every cars, they don't care what the car is, they just want the huge profit margin.
