Default 4 GS vs Commercial Car Wash

I can just imagine the heat I'm going to take but maybe I can help some soul who is unaware.
The Best commercial Car Wash in Town is owned by a personal Friend. I have taken all my cars there for years (including my 2 GS). Before I took my 4 GS through I asked him for assurance that no scratches would result. He said he was positive it was OK and explained my Lexus Dealer sent their cars through a wash that utilized the same equipment. Sure enough, I went through the car wash and scratched the heck out of it- full length an back from about the door handles down. The flat surfaces were unaffected. The Car Wash owner appeared amazed. He is paying for any necessary repairs at a custom detail shop. Have at me!

Never trust anyone else washing your car including your dealership. Make sure you are sure that the automatic car wash is touchless!.

Go to a hand wash car wash if u can't wash it yourself. Around me they are about 5 bucks more than those automatic washes w the car on the rail

wow,,,,, i would have went nuts. i detail and wash my own car. a car wash will f&^&%$k your car up. those scratches are hard to come out. and that lexus paint is soft. I'm on my third lexus. just bought 2013 GS 350 0n the 4th of feb. it will never see a carwash. will do my own washing and detailing.

Thanks all. I knew I would get beat up with this thread. I live in an area that has 4 definite seasons. I knew that hand washing would expose me to such hazards a pneumonia, frostbite and possibly blisters. I was looking for the easy way out. One option I'm considering is parking my AWD beauty for year around with the exception of July and August. I may get a set of chains for my 2GS and claw my way around all winter in that. It doesn't seem to mind Car Washes. In that event, if I get to lonely for my 4 GS I can just go in my garage and sit in it now and then. Another thought is to find some help in using the trunk load of detailing supplies I bought today. A nineteen year old Swedish Girl comes to mind. I had no idea Lexus paint was so soft. I hope some of you can learn from my dumb mistake.

The color is Liquid Platinum. As I mentioned on another post, this particular color is the result of a new technology paint process Lexus is using. As far as I know, it is unique to that color. My hope is that it is not uniquely soft.

You will no longer have the original paint job but a lower quality after market paint job. And you deserve it.
