PM me and I will be happy to tell you the exact name and dealerships I spoke to, but out of respect even I don't think it should be openly posted on the forum.

I have a friend who owns a 2007 M-B S550 who is looking into a GS. How does this credit work? Is it at the dealership level, or Lexus Corporate level? Do you have to ask for it specifically??

He just has to go to a Lexus dealer and make a deal with his trade in.

well, not unless there is a dealer selling the base GS with no addons...

Base GS has an invoice of $43,617, MSRP of $46,900 (Margin = $3283)
Premium package - invoice $1,288, MSRP $1,400 (margin = $112)
Nav - invoice $1,603, MSRP $1,735 (margin = $132)
Luxury package invoice $5,293, MSRP $5,750 (margin $457)

And so on...

Once you complete your sale, please do share the dealer information... sounds like you snagged an amazing deal! Congrats!

Here in the Western Area, the base car is a GS 350 luxury package with MRSP $52k. There is nothing lower than that. $56-58k for F Sport and $57-60k for Luxury.

We got the $1500 deal without trading in a car. It is a Lexus MFG rebate/discount to encourage owners of high end cars to switch to a Lexus brand. Part of the deal was that we had to finance at least $10k for a minimum of 3 months. Then you can pay off the $10k loan. You'll pay about $50 for the three months financing

The purchase was a 2012 Lexus ES350. Shouldn't matter which Lexus model though

Sorry, not trying to be dense, but does he walk in and say "I'd like to trade in my vehicle and I understand you're offering $1500 toward the value of Benzes..."?? Our local Lexus dealer is a bit shady, so I was wondering if there's anything material he can reference if they claim ignorance...

No no, you just need to transfer a registration (registration paper) showing you are a owner of one of the cars (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc) and get the 1500 off on the new Lexus. You do not need to trade in the car. Just transfer the plate and sell off the older car yourself for more money.

correct, you only need to show you own one of the competitor brands, don't believe you need to trade in your car

Boy, wish I was living in CA... not the same sentiment here in TX.
