+1 for Audi A7. Beautiful interior, great sound system with B&O. Good power for a V6. I find MB interiors old and I hate the gear shift on the steering column.

I didn't see how it made for last GS, but for LS it sucks.

Yes, and voice recognition at Mercedes much better than Lexus had. I have thick accent but can speak address or phone number for Mercedes without a problem. Lexus doesn't understand a word.
"Performance and handling makes cls win"
More performance for $20k extra yes, but note the track times and speeds... not better handling....at least with the F-Sport which is what you need to compare an AMG to. And what percent of the time will you be able to use the performance advantage when you are not on a track?

Voice recognition from Lexus greatly improved in 2010, and again in the 2013 models... so you cannot use old technology to compare the current 4GS... (yes before 2010 Lexus VR was just about useless... much better in the 2010's on... and very much better in 2013.. And the 4GS has more to offer in technology than just VR.

So CLS wins in straight-line performance, and in my opinion the exterior of the CLS looks better... but not the interior.

My last AMG was a C36, so I can not fairly comment on reliability of current “benz’s, but my C36 while quick in its day was not that reliable. Esp with electronics..

The CLS should cost more it's a more expensive car.
The Benz is not as expensive to maintain as people think here. Those horrible years are long gone.

I can confirm the cls interior may not be better than the GS. But it offer so much more I guarantee the day you drive that CLS550 off the lot people are going to follow you for a few miles down the road.

Ask yourself do you want something special and you will have your answer?
Maybe you should post what your looking for in your new vehicle.

You might want to do some more homework. Some of the information you have posted here is incorrect.

I guess it all depends on were he got his stats but he left out some important stats.

I think the mpg is a little low for the cls550. 14/21mpg is a little low. I think in the articles I read it's more like 17/26 or 16/.

Things he left out.
The CLS550 starting price is around 72K so with options it's going to be in the 80's.
0 - 60 I have seen from 4.2 to 4.7 gracious that thing is fast.
1/4 I have seen from 12.8 to 13.3.

The real question is does it justified being 20k more than the GS.

You have hit it. I don't have the gas mileage in front of me, but I think you are very close (just looked it up - 17/25). Even the CLS63 has better mileage than he posted. And yes, they are fast.

I've ridden in a CLS63 and that is one hell of a car. And I don't get the interior bashing, I think it's one of the best in the industry right now, but I'll concede that it is a subjective issue and if others don't like it that it not something that can be argued - just disagreed with.

BTW, my reason for posting that the information was wrong, but not specifying what was wrong was for a reason. I'm a forum junkie and I get annoyed when people post objective data that is very easy to look up that is not even close to being right. I prefer that people take the time to do their homework to figure it out.

How is the information I posted wrong?

I got it from the Motortrend website and the link that rogers2 provided confirms the EPA figures I initially posted. It IS 14/21 mpg for the CLS550 :

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html

I didn't post the starting price, acceleration and skidpad figures since Batman had already done so 3 posts above my initial post. My intention was to complete the information he had provided.

I wonder what the "real" 0-60 is in the GS350... I know in a IS350... turn the Lexus nannies off and it is a 4.7-4.8 sec 0-60... same engine/tranny...

Exactly. This is an ridiculous comparison.

I bet he buys the GS350. He would not be considering a gs350 if he wasn't concerned about price at some level. It may not be conscious to the OP but it must be there.

Also with an 86k budget he should consider Panamera if he doesn't care about power. I know I did, but ruled it out because the V6 was not adequate and the V8 well equipped is about $110.I
