I was browsing the net and I came across the specs of the 2012 GS350 in Australia. Torque (376Nm = 277 lb-ft) and top speed (230Km = 142mph) are identical to the US version, estimated 0-62 (instead of 0-60) in 5.7s and horsepower is 233Kw which is 312HP or 317PS. Just for reference, 306HP is 228Kw.

(as in different countries having different ratings, but engines are the same)

I don't think you need to get an M-tuned car to have fun with a V8. The BMW 550i with the Dinan Stage 1 upgrade which I am getting in October is going to have 495hp, 571 lb ft torque, and 0-60 in 4.2 seconds. I think that's going to be quite a leap from the GS460s and GS450hs 0-60 in 5.5 seconds.

mike that's not a good way for comparison, there are a lot of other factors. but one thing we can say is gs460 is about 300lb lighter than the gs450h. so unless the new hybrid has some much lighter battery and/or improved lighter engine, it's heavier than a comparable v8 variant

If I got a BMW it would be a manual, period. To me that is the entire point of a BMW, they offer manuals and Lexus and others don't.

Considering a hybrid with its batteries and complexity is no longer heavier than the V-8 competition I think its a great point to make. In 2007 the GS 450h was heavier than the 545, M45, E500. Today the GS 450h is lighter than all the new versions of it. Lexus is trying to hold the weight down where everyone else isn't. That should be commended. It should be blasted, isn't this what people and the media always ask for? Lighter cars? So Lexus does it and its not important or not great?
I'm sure it will be fun My tastes have changed, I did the modded V-8 sedan thing twice and I doubt I go that route ever again. My interests are in a factory tuned model or hybrids.

lol mike i guess we are converging (you sure we aren't brothers?!?!?). i am getting done with mods too. i think m3 changed me completely. it's about just how factory tuned can means it's the best and trouble free. when there is a car from factory that can be this good, why bother with modding

oh i am not taking away their credit on that at all. i am just saying that by comparison, at least the data we have so far, the hybrid is still heavier than the v8. but maybe in a few months, lexus will debut the gsh with new batteries and other surprises!!!

i am still very very very much thinking hard about parting out my gs350 and just drive it stock. i am NOT kidding about it. put it this way, if i know for sure all the parts will be spoken for like that, i might just do it. a few items i know i have a list of people waiting already @_@

I found the following piece of information on the official European Lexus site (www.lexus.eu)
Current GS450h, mid-range acceleration, with 50 to 75 mph taking 4.7 seconds
New GS350, mid-range acceleration, with 50 to 75 mph taking just 4.4 seconds

People who buy the 6 cylinder versions are always going for looks, style and functionality more than performance, and they make up the vast majority of sales. The 4GS has much better driving dynamics than the previous GS in magazine test, plus the new features and technologies, so it's a good sign.
I do believe they will probably up the power in subsequent years, and that's not unusual at all in other brands too ....

Ha ha, an old school 6 speed manual fan. Totally respect your opinion, but BMW's DCT is pretty amazing, as well as the Speedshift MCT found in the recent AMG models.
