Toyota was on top of the world when they decided to make the LFA, trying to conquer F1 and all, they were aiming at the sky. They want to make a 599 GTO, not a 911.

Then they hit the wall, failed at F1, quality goes down, economy goes down, tons of recalls and lawsuits........

I agreed with you, they would be so much better off making a 911 competitor, but then can Lexus really sell a 911 competitor?

we keep talking about F models, and lexus has had only ONE that was an internal skunkworks project (not in lexus roadmap until a small group made one). yes there's now an LFA but that's in a different league entirely (and while i LOVE the LFA, i still think it was a giant mistake and waste of time for Lexus to do).

lexus has to get the 4GS on the market, and hybrid, get the kinks worked out, and making/engineering a 4GS-F will be time-consuming and expen$ive with only a marketing halo benefit (it will likely sell in tiny numbers and lose money).

if we see a GS-F, i woudn't be surprised if it's not available until mid-2013 at least.
if they make a gsf, please release it 1 yr after the 4gs debut, not more than that. do it while the car is still "hot" (well, somewhat). in some way i think the isf suffered a little bit because it didn't come out fast enough after 2is debut. but of course can't blame them considering the resource spent.

I propose a new thread be started for the launch, rather than it be posted in this one. This thread is all about speculation, and when the car launches a separate thread should be created for discussion of the actual car.

I'm sure come introduction day, that the moderators of clublexus.com will create a new "4th gen. GS" tab under GS.

I don't see a reason to create a new thread from this one. Too many threads just equals a big mess and additional difficulty finding what you want when searching.

Some new spy pics of the F30 3-series came out today, wonder what it looks like? Just imagine a smaller F10 5-series

Yes I know that's a randering, I am just making a point.

If they make a GSF, it will be out quickly, since all the hardwares already exist and proven

When the ISF came out, everything was brand new.

So, you're assuming they'll just carry over everything from the ISF, drop it into a GS body, and call it a GSF?

Of course no one would believe it until it is offically out, but that is my prediction.

From looking at the AMG C/E/S/SL 63........all with the same 6.2L V8...........only with the C63 detuned a bit. I am guessing Lexus will do the same thing. I am guessing the engine we have in the IS-F now is a detuned version, the GS-F will have the same V8 but unrestricted to 465 hp.

Even the $150k S63 and SL63 got the same engine as the $70k C63, you don't think is possible for Lexus to sell a $80k GS-F that has the same motor as the $62k IS-F? Even the $200k SLS got the same V8, just spiced up a bit with dry sump and a few other upgrades and a different tune, but is basically the same motor.

Look at the LS460 sport we have now, all the sporty hardwares are directly from the IS-F, Brembos, lock up torque converter......etc.

Think about it, it is not rocket science. Is not like trying to guess what the next space shuttle will be like.

You just don't want to believe it because it is disappointing, I really need to learn not to point out disappointing reality ahead of times.

If they can make a LFA, they damn sure should be able to produce a 911 competitor.

if porsche can sell a panamera and cayenne, lexus can absolutely sell a 911 type model. it would be an SC-F

The question is not if they can build it, the question is if they can sell enough for a profit to worth the effort.
