Default vvt-i swap

Misleading title but just some quick questions. A lot of the vvt-i to non vvt-i involves the jdm turbo engines that I've research. But my engine in factory and it blew a rod through the block. Luckily I was able to pick up an 02 IS300 vvt-i long block. The blocks are the same standard oem manufactured. But the IS300 intake camgear/camshaft is equipped with a vvt-i. So by simply swapping heads I will have a ready engine.

My question is: since the blocks are identical can I use either model gasket kits and components on the block?

Any inputs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should be using your original components, but I think there is a slight difference in the block for the vvt-i oil port.

You can also visit autozone and ask them for a gasket for both types of engines and visualy compare the port arrangements as well.

You should be fine using the VVTI bottom end, however you will need the oil pickup and the whole oil pan from your old engine.

I am sure you should be fine if you use all the sensors and components from your old engine. Here are some things I am not 100% sure about:

- Not 100% sure if compression remains the same between engines (9.5:1)
- I don't know if there are any different emissions components exclusive to each motor

I currently have an IS300 2JZGE on a stand with all peripherals on it. hit me up if you need a picture of anything.
