Stereo wiring question
Hello
When I purchased my car, the factory cd changer or the amp were not there. The previous owner must have ripped them out. However, the harnesses are still intact. I still have the factory headunit in the car.
I know that I can wire directly to the speakers through the amp harness in the trunk. I found that out here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-i-did-it.html
I want to know if it is possible to
1) draw power for two small 150w amps from the trunk
2) wire up the remote wire for my amps to one of the harnesses in the trunk
I have no plans on using the factory headunit. It is just there as a dummy unit. Everything runs out of my trunk. I had the same setup on a previous car, but the wiring was not as convoluted as this car.
Thanks!

I will always say this: our vehicles were not wired to run aftermarket stereos, speakers and amps. I think it would be safer for you to:
A) Relocate your battery to the trunk
B) Run independent circuits for your stereo, amps and speakers
The reason why is that on 1st gens the main anti-theft unit is also part of the stereo/radio circuits. If you were to wire something wrong, good luck starting your car again. Besides, it is always better to run your own wiring IMHO as the wire gauges for power are not designed for this type of power. This is just me.
And since you are already wiring your amps to the trunk, relocate the battery to the back while you are at it - I find it better than having it cramped in the front-corner of the car.
I do have to say: IT IS POSSIBLE if you have the wiring diagram for the stereo, I just don't recommend it.
