Is300 seats into a 1st gen gs300
Hey guys its been mentioned before that someone has installed 1st Gen IS300 seats into a 1st Gen GS300 but no actual install or directions have ever been posted. So I bought one from a local junkyard and began to pull it apart to see what needs be done to install the seat and make them fully functional. I started out with the passenger side because I will still be driving the car while I figure this out. Here's what I have so far.....
IS300 passenger side seat black with " suede " inserts.
Bottom of the seat
IS300 seat rails removed. 4 12mm nuts and 4 14 mm nuts.
1994 GS300 seat rails removed. 5 12 mm bolts.
Both rails side by side.
Ok the bad news.
1. I never knew or never paid attention to the fact that the GS300 seat belt bolts into the side of the seat not into the " B " pillar like on most cars.
2. Not all of the mounting holes line up
3. None of the connectors matchup
Ok the GOOD news.
1. The front mount holes line up pretty well. Maybe I will have to open the holes up just a little. So that will be one less think to deal with
2. Took a look at a wiring diagram and it looks like the wiring won't take very much effort.
3. The Bracket that the seat belt bolts to on the side of the GS300 just bolts in place with 2 14 mm bolts so I can weld the bracket to the IS300 seats or drill and tap them to the IS300 seats
Game plan
1. Since the front mounting holes lineup I plan to leave those alone as much as possible. For the rear mounting I plan to cut tabs off of the GS300 seats and cut the tabs off of the IS300 seats. Then I will bolt the GS tabs in place and bolt the IS rails in place. Clamp everything nice and tight. Once they are clamped together I will mount the rails back on the seat for final fit then rivet like factory or weld it all together.
2. I have a section of the IS300 wiring harness so I will just sit down with the wiring diagram match everything up so I will still have a factory style connection.
3. Figure out how I will to mount the seat belt bracket. This will be one of the last steps and I will come up with a game plan for that once the seat is in its final position.
Well wish me luck! Thoughts, opinions, and other ideas or whatever are welcome!!

Thanks man!! I really want this to work so I am going to see it to completion. I got the brackets removed from the GS seat rails and started removing the IS brackets today. I think I may just cut them off flush instead of cutting and removing the rivets.

Not a ton of progress today but I did finally removed the brackets from the IS300 seat rails. No really sure what the IS300 seat rails are made of but they are a lot tougher to cut through than the GS seat rails!!
1GS3 rails with brackets removed.
IS300 rails with brackets removed
1GS3 rear brackets
1GS3 rear brackets next to their new home
Next up...bolt brackets into car then lay the rails in place and clamp and mark location. Stay tuned!!

Not a huge update but making progress!
Going to add a little reinforcement to the mounting brackets and start the wiring then give the seat a thorough shampooing and moved on to the drivers side. I have learned somethings the should make the second seat easier/better then I will feel better about doing a write up!! Let me know what you guys think.
