Yes light dispersment that is a good way to put. I think I may call superbrightleds.com tomorrow to if they have anything that may do a little better job of dispersing the light.

one thing to keep in mind is that SMD led's are predominantly directional. Some designs from factory have a larger light spread radius, but without the mirror-like reflective shroud (see maglites, or led maglites) the dispersement is not as prevalent as your old fashioned bulb.
