Default Key

I have about three keys for my GS300 and the best one cracked open while opening the trunk. Now I have to call Lexus and sign off on my life just to get one ordered. License, proof of ownership. All for $400.

No way am I paying that kind of jack for a key to my car.

Options?

Go to a place like Ace Hardware. They have specific keys for our cars... They'll then mold yours and replace it. Not sure if you'll need proof of anything or not. It's like $20 or something.

I think Clark is referring to the master key fob which allows you to unlock/lock your doors with the key from a distance.

But I am also in the same boat as Titten, only have one key and its the spare with no functionality, so might as well go to Ace hardware and get some copies made!

Well he said it cracked while opening the trunk. Which means he was using a solid metal key :P

I went there a few weeks ago, and they had the same type of OEM key. Just wasn't drilled yet. So it shouldn't be too bad. It's only like $20 or something.

Yes, Joe is correct. I want the key fob control because I'm super lazy.

I think I might have a plan. Not cheap but not $400 either. I'll let you know how it goes...

At that point, you can just do aftermarket alarm system for like $200...

I actually found another key in my junk drawer. I am going to keep looking for a new one though because it's not in too much better shape but will work for now.
