Default Weight reduction. How light can you go??

Was wondering if anyone has done serious weight reduction? I know stock weight is around 3700 and want to know if anyone had gotten under 3000lbs with these cars? I'm thinking completely gutted interior minus dash and front bucket seats. That includes heat, inner door skins, window tracks, rear deck, deadening, etc. possibly tubular suspension if needed. Thanks guys

I really dont see it being hard for someone to get their jzs147 to 3000lbs. In my experience gross weight is a little fibbed. Gross on my Miata bone stock was 2400 but when I put it on a scale it was closer to 2100 with me in it.

It would be nice to get it to somewhere around 2800. A buddy has gotten an Integra to 1700 with a 10pt cage and stock gas tank and suspension so cutting is not feared around here

I really dont think it would be that hard honestly. I just bought a 93 base model gs300. Ill see if I cant get it on a scale this week and see what she weights.

What is the point of stripping a big sedan? If you want a lightweight track car just buy one of those. I'm sure there is plenty of weight that can be dropped from one of these I just don't see the point.

In the end it is your car and you can do whatever you want to it I'm just wondering the reasoning behind it.

I agree. I've seen ppl choosing the wrong platform for their project, and/or do silly things. Not say in' op is doing that. But op, what are your goals?
