Default 93 GS300 Misfiring problem! Don't Know where to start for Diag

Hi there,

soo Alberta Blizzard hit yesterday night and car started up fine in -20 was low on gas didn't let the car warm up too long, so I left to the gas station leaving the alley I went straight into a snow bank -.- idiot, so to get myself out I kept rocking the vehicle forward and back using D and R, I was also pushing it hard hitting around 5,000rpms-6,000rpms, after I finally free'd myself out turned the car off to help the lady stuck behind got back in started her up and there she was idling around 500-700rpms, no engine light, rough idle, acceleration is pretty slow and no power, my assumption is spark plugs? When I First got the vehicle in Sept I washed my engine bay without thinking twice started misfiring and so took the plugs out got the water out and it was all fine after that.

Thanks help is greatly appreciated.

yeah you probably got water down into your spark plug galley. I got coolant down in mine once and it was terrible because atleast driving around the water will boil and evaporate off, whereas the coolant will stay and continue missing or having spark issues

dayum. aha, how is it possible that water got down there? condensation? I didn't change the spark plugs either when I had that water issue back in Sept, from the looks of em too they look pretty old lol. Fired the car up again just now and it had worst idling issues but it stays running, like If I got the throttle 1/4 down itll go up to 1,500rpms and then you can feel another piston making combustion and goes up to 2,000rpms. i'm hoping its just fouled spark plugs.

U sure u didn't overheat that puppy hitting the revs like that? What is the water issue? Is there coolant in the system?

The inline 6 Lexus engine also have misfire issues when the valve cover gaskets leak oil into the valley.

Possibly, I was revving it pretty hard when I was getting myself out of that little snow bank, around 5k-6k. Water issue I had was when I washed the engine bay and water got inside the spark plug galleries. Took out all the spark plugs, air compressed the water out and cleaned off the carbon on the spark plug and ran like a beauty after that. There is coolant in the system, had a small rad leak tho, would leak out coolant from time to time.

Yeah sounds reasonable, so first I should check spark plugs? If anything could the IACV or MAF be the issue here as well to? Highly doubt it tho coz it isn't throwing any codes?

SOO! Problem solved!

Turns out the battery was pretty much dead from the -30 weather, ended up firing her up and she ran while misfiring for about 20-30mins, drove her around for another 20mins still misfiring, so I ended up charging the battery for about an hour, and now no more misfires. Either two solutions happened there. The water in the spark gallery finally evaporated or the battery was just dead.

Cheers!
