Default Update

I found some threads that stated I need to change my oil. Going to try that tomorrow.

Also, I used a metric O-Ring to the oil dipstick tube. I thought maybe that the size was too small. Going to try some bigger ones tomorrow and see if that helps along with the oil change.

I only use Mobil One. The weight is 10W-30. Maybe increase the weight? Having the oil light on when I just spent the time and money to put the head gasket on is quite concerning.

What is your idle? Your idle being too low can reduce your oil pressure, especially on cold starts or initial start ups.

Default Got it

Thanks for the reply Joe.

I tried to start the car yesterday morning and the light would not go off after 15 seconds. I shut it down and went and got the oil and filter.

After that the oil light is acting normally again.

whew!

Default Code 28

Went for a 15 minute drive to a neighboring town and almost there when the Trac light and CEL popped on.

Here is the code:

I'm searching and thought I would go ahead and post the codes. With the TRAC light on I'm not sure if it just the O2 sensor or something else...

Default Check the Brake Fluid level

First off I'm going to top off the brake fluid reservoir. It seemed a bit low but not much.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Default CEL Off for now

I cleared the ECU by removing the negative terminal for 5 mins. I drove about the same distance and the light hasn't lit up.

I went over to a local yard and found a cup holder and a nice 2jzge under the hood. They want $160 to pull it myself and they said they would load it up. They have A-frames you can use to grab it. They said they would then use a forklift or skid loader to do the rest.

There was also a nice Head Unit that I'm going back to grab ASAP as my lights are all dimming out. The RPM on mine is completely dim and it really bugs me.

The steering wheel is in the retracted position so it's not going to be easy to get out. I'm going to look in the manual and see if there is a way to release the steering wheel.

Default Salvage Yard Score

I found an old GS300 at the Salvage Yard and pulled the Cluster. Sorry the pic is bad because of the Sun. The brackets for the installation bolts are both broken on the left side.

I'm going to head over to the dealer and see if I can order just the plastic piece for it.

The old Lexus has a Nakamichi System in it. I took pictures if anyone is interested. The engine looks nice and clean. They said I could pull it for $160 bucks.

Default More Problems...

Last week my bypass hose blew. I accidentally installed it wrong. I was repairing it Thursday night and noticed a tapping sound coming from the head. I thought I had a valve cap that was bad.

I took it to a mechanic and he used his Stethoscope and noticed that it was coming from the timing belt. I took the cover off and my timing belt was shredded. A piece of the belt was flapping against the Timing Belt Cover.

You can see what I found at the bottom right of the this picture.

I was super careful not to drop anything down into the timing belt when I did my head gasket, but somehow, someway this nut got down in there and did its thing.

I'm super lucky the belt didn't break all the way. As you can see it's almost cut in half.

Anyway, I replaced the belt, yet again, and now the car is running great again.
