Default TO VVTI or NOT to VVTI in a 96 GS300

My main question is which 2J is the easiest, most painless swap for a 96 GS300? VVTI or non VVTI?

My plan is to swap in a stock 2JZGTE and drive it like that for a while. My biggest concerns are drivability and reliability(wiring wise). I dont want a VVTI just for bragging rights. I only want what will work the best.

From what Ive read non VVTI is easier to swap into OBD1 cars. And VVTI is easier to swap into OBD2 cars. Does this sound about right?

So is it easier to swap a VVTI into a 96 GS300 even though its a 1st gen? Or does it not make the least bit of difference?

Id go vvti. It is best to swap a motor from a similar year. If you are worried about harness issues let me know. I can get you a custom made Tweak'd Performance harness. I have a wholesale acct with them. I'm currently swapping a non vvti into my GS (94) and a vvti into a Sc (99). I feel both are fitting of their years. I did do a 01 1mzfe into my 91 mr2 and I did the wiring myself. Works great but there are so many extra wires from obd2 etc.
