Default 1996 GS LSX/R154 Conversion project

Getting close to finishing my lsx conversion. Still need to wrap wires and hook up cruise control. All Factory gauges in working order. A/C works... Runs Great so far. Still breaking in engine as it was rebuilt. Have about 200 miles on it so far....

Engine - 2002 6.0l LQ4 with LM7 heads (raised CR to 10.8)
Trans - R154 with Novak adapter. Spec stage 1 clutch, Ram hydraulic release bearing
Also has tomei 2way lsd, beech short shifter, eibach coilovers running 3.26 rear end from 2000 GS400. 65 mph at 2100 rpm.

Anyone see this swap into a first gen gs?

Very interesting swap. How challenging was the wiring? Is the car for drifting? Why not a 1UZ?

Definately for ocasional drifting, Hopefully 4 times a year if possible. It will be daily driven though

Just thought it would be cheaper to put togther and much cheaper/easier to do performance upgrades with the huge aftermarket support compared to 1uz...honestly never considered or looked into the 1uz.

Wiring for LSX took a long time because I used a truck harness and had to extend and shorten a crap load of wires. It was very straight forward though with all the wiring instruction/diagrams on lt1swap.com and ls1tech.com. Hooking it up to the lexus was not that difficult either...But very important to have diagrams for the lexus to locate all the wires to be spliced and jumped.

The wiring took the longest by far on this project... the physical engine, trans, radiator was easy and quick...Other than figuring out what exhaust manifold would fit.... Cadillac cts-v fyi

I used a clutch pedal from a 91 supra and modified it to bolt up to the stock emergency foot brake location and fire wall. I used the supra 91 master cylinder (.58 bore) with the r154 bell housing when I had the 2jz but had to switch to a larger master cylinder from wilwood (.75 bore) because I now use a hydraulic release bearing from ram with the chevy bell housing.

Stock Ls1 flywheel with Spec stage 1 ls1 clutch kit with r154 splines in clutch disc. Spec made this combo quickly and at no extra charge

That is an awesome build. Got anymore updates perhaps some driving videos. Is that exhaust straight pipped. You don't think you are chocking that engine too much with 2.5"?

In for vid's
Never seen one in a 1st gen. Aftermarket parts are a dime a dozen and power is nearly double a 1uz

Exhuast is a dual 2.5" with X pipe and only 2 flowmaster delta 40's. I think it will be sufficient for th power levels i am going for. I am sure I could gain a few Hp going to dual 3" however It will increase the sound level beyond what I am looking for.

I will get videos up as soon as I get a chance to take it out to a JustDrift event or to Adams motorsports track!
