Idles smooth then has spasms randomly, wth?
So when I cold start the car it all goes normal, 2k rpms and blah blah blah, but then when it starts getting a little warmer, the engine starts idling rough for short periods of time and it goes away and comes back, and the when it's at operating temp it will mostly idle kinda rough and have little short periods of time in which it idles smoothly and doesn't shake the whole engine, wth can this possibly be? Help a brother out please

I do have a vacuum leak, there's a whistle coming from the area around the egr valve, plugs were changed a month ago and i've barely used the car, I tried to follow the vacuum hose diagram but it's not very helpful

mine did the same thing after I had the headgasket replaced. 3 of my vacuum lines had cracks in them (right on top of the throttle body). But fixing those didnt help, so I adjusted the idle and its fine now. Theres a little nut with screw through it (allen head inlet on the top of the screw). Just loosen the nut, turn the screw a little bit, tighten the nut.
BTW, when it warms up and starts idling rough, what does the rpm needle say its idling at?

It usually idles around the one, just above the one, and just below it, and when i'm in gear it's at like .5, I just saw the nut and screw you talked about so im gonna give it a shot, it still does the constant whistling but it goes away on low rpms and high rpms, while not touching the gas pedal the whistle's tjere

I wouldn't adjust your idle screw yet. I would track the problem down first. It sounds like you need to track that vacuum line down that is leaking, and make sure everything is hooked up correctly. There is no reason you should have to adjust that screw (not saying that you NEVER have to, just generally shouldn't have to)

See thats where the problem is, the sticker by the fusebox is not very explanatory, specially when all the hoses aren't even marked or anything, also the huge nut that fastens the egr valve to that silver pipe that goes down is stripped somehow, is that fixable or would I have to get a new everything for that area?

i only adjusted mine because when I got my car back from the shop after having the headgasket replaced, it was idling so low that if I tapped the gas and let off, the car would die out. The shop is the one that originally adjusted it but it was still a tiny bit low so I just brought it up a tad. Although I have a feeling I got scammed by them as well, but cant prove it unless I want to pull the head off. But since mines a DD I dont really have the time or know-how to figure out what the problem is. Im in the midst of saving for a GTE though so Im not really worried about it.
