Default JZS147 to UZS143?

Had anyone ever consider putting a 1UZFE in their 1st Gen? I was thinking about going with the 1UZ since I plan on doing Air Runners.

Should be doable. There are 1st gen aristos that come stock with a 1UZ and 4wd. Might be alot easier if you can get a swap from a jdm aristo. Would be a more "plug and play" affair.

I remember reading somewhere that after the weight and power associated with the swap it would just be easier to go NA-T or swap in a 2JZ. I was considering the same thing until I found out that piece of info.

I did. I have 2 pointers for you:

Wanna be different? do it. If huge power gains is not your goal and you are building a civilized vip vehicle that you will daily drive, this is the swap for you. The only downside is that to find a direct "swap-in" motor set (coming from a ZiFour JDM 1st gen aristo) is going to take some time since there is no demand for this motorset. I was quoted a 4 month wait by Venus auto to get the motorset priced at 1500+ shipping.

If you want to do a manual conversion or plan on building a sport power oriented car, stay away from the 1UZ; power is not cheap, requires lots of custom parts (if you want power or manual conversion), and you can get were you want, power wise, faster and cheaper on a GTE motor. Plus the motor is cheaper to mod and support kind of abundant. I was quoted 2200 + shipping for a motorset.

Hope this info helps.

you could also get the motor out of a RWD (only way they came) LS400, or celsior since they weren't 4wd

That was another idea, pulling one out of a LS400 or GS400. Just wonder if the rear differential would fit with some work along with the drive shaft.

This really has me considering this again. I would love to a gte swap but I want the smoother power and grumble of the v8. My car would be no more than a highway cruiser with some occasional show time so this would be perfect.

My choice now comes down to the 3UZ and 1UZ.

The 1UZ should be pretty simple if you can get a local importer to set you up with a 1UZ aristo harness and ECU. the motor you can source local unless they give you a good deal. Would make the same fairly easy and plug and play. no harness to modify anything. If you can find one that can get you a half cut even better.

Niiiiice... I was also wondering about the drive shaft and rear differential, if I have to use them fit with the 1UZ or what.

I thought about this also when I had to replace my engine. I didn't because I had a time limit. Good luck if you attempt it op.
