Default 1st Gen GS (JZS147) guys...UNITE!

Ok, I'm taking a poll of sorts for 1st Gen (JZS147) GS owner on Club Lexus. If you own one, please post with all your mods (if any, if none, just post and put "NO MODS").

I'm thinking about doing something (nothing definite yet, I just have some ideas) for the JZS147 guys (and gals!)

HI,

It looks like we both have the same yr and model. Mine is also
1994 GS 300 and only has 67k miles.

I'm thinking of having the windows tinted too. How does yours
look like with a 35% tint? Did you have tint on the front as well?
Do you know what tint brand was used?

My cost for my rims and tires are closed to 3K

I wanted to lower the car by 1', but don't know how
and what parts I need to get and how much altogether
will it cost?

The estimate that I got for tint was $350 in SF, CA, is
that sound reasonable?

What do you think of wheel spacers to "tuck out" the tires?

Default Hi

jhuzzee-

Hi. I like the way my car looks with the 35% tint. It is not too bad. The film used was Lumar. I think $350 is very high for tint and that you may want to shop around. I know you can get it done in SoCal for about $225 or $250.

I don't even want to say what my wheels and tired cost. The HREs are not cheap, but they will look great. It will be worth it in the end.

Using spacers to bring the wheels and tires outboard and fill the fender well is not a bad idea. It should look pretty good. I will post a picture of my car when it's done.

I have to say that I am so impressed with the build quality of my car. I looked for 3 months before I found it and I almost gave up. Believe it or not, I almost leased a 2002 Altima 3.5SE instead.

I love the GS. I made the right choice and my payment is not bad. Everyone who rides in the car comments on how comfortable and nice it is. No one believes it's a 1994 either. Lexus did one hell of a nice job with that car. I also like the second gen. cars a lot.

The HIDs are great. I am very happy with my purchase. One of the cool things about our 1st gen projector headlights is that they produce a very white/blueish light with HIDs. I've heard of some people getting yellow output on their reflector based setups.

Light output is much better than stock. Beam pattern is the same...abeit wider. I haven't had to modify the headlight levels and rarely get flashed.

Colorwise, it's a brilliant white and looks blue from certain angles. Also, because of our projector housing and HID combo, the lights look like they are twinkling from a distance. If you are looking for a deep blue/purple color like Audi, consider the 6000K Ultinon kits (though you'll get less light output).

Be sure to buy from a reputable shop. And be sure the kit is "beam pattern correct." If they don't know what you're talking about, don't buy from them.

I'll post some pics right now since it's getting dark out. Check them out in the GS Gallery.

Hope this helps.
