Default JDM headlight question

Do the usdm bulb holders fit into the JDM housing or do they all need to be cut at the wires and connected to the jdm one?

Here's a picture of the lights from the back. The usdm hi/low plug in? Or are the jdm hi/low connectors missing?

You can use USDM plugs for the JDM headlights without cutting any wires. Here is what you need to do. First off, the JDM low beam and high beam, both are 9005. Since the USDM low beam is 9006 and high beam is 9005. If you want to use the USDM factory plug without cutting any wires, then you have to shave the 9005 bulb for the low beam on the JDM headlights. If you want to use the low beam on the JDM headlights without shaving the 9005 bulb, then you have to cut your GS low beam plug and use the JDM plug. Here is the website showing what need to shave for the 9005 bulb in order to fit in the USDM low beam plug http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/More_light.htm
Go the step number 2 on that website which show you where to shave the 9005 bulb and disregard the rest. Hope this help

This is exactly what I was looking for! I should be installing my JDM headlights this weekend. They've been sitting in my garage for like 6 months or more...they're DUE!

Finally installed my JDM (Aristo) headlights. The wiring will be really easy. BUT the thing i'm having a hard time with is the actual BULBS. What Bulbs are you guys using for the following:

JDM (Aristo) Low Beam = ???
JDM (Aristo) High Beam = ???
JDM (Aristo) Blinker = 1156
JDM (Aristo) Running Light = 194 wedge bulb

This will be helpful to a lot of people who do this conversion. I saw that other people modified their bulbs...I tried this and I still cant get them to twist in.

I just noticed above that BOTH Highs & Lows are 9005. Can someone confirm this?? Also, I tried using an HID 9005 bulb last night and I modded the tabs so that they would line up w/ the mount. BUT then I realized that the actual BASE of the bulb was too large in diameter, so it wouldn't go all the way in. Is this a problem ONLY w/ HID's?? I did some research and someone on another thread mentioned something about a 9005J bulb. Designed specifically for JDM-spec?? Is this true!!?!?

9005 in general. They work. When I had halogens, I used a sylvania 9005 bulb, had to trim the tabs and it was a tight fit. 9005's I got from HIDextra.com plugged right in, no tab trimming. In the low beams that is

mkiii, i checked that site. looks like quality from what i hear. OK, so JUST to confirm once more, you ordered the 9005 HID kit for your JDM Aristo Low Beams right?? And they weren't too snug to push in when you did the install??

One seems to be a tad bit more snug then the other, probably abnormal marks from different crap happening to the housing over the years. But either way, they fit like they're supposed to with out any trimming at all
