Got the GS300 *bug*
No, not a defect. Instead, an obsession for the GS300.
Just recently got remarried and the new wife came with a '95 GS300. I have driven a minivan for the past 8 years and a GEO Metro before that. Now she drives the minivan (we have 4 kids) and I drive the GS300 to and from work, about 40 miles a day.
Her ex had done a fair job keeping it up mechanically but the rest of the car lacked any caring for. 118k miles. No major body damage. But it looked like an old car to me but one that runs.
I started off thinking this is a paid off car, I will drive it whether I like it or not. After driving it for a few days I was in love with it! Yes, I am guy, and I am using the word love. I have never had a connection to a car before. Now it is my goal and obsession to make it perfect and keep it that way.
I care for it like no other car. When coming off the freeway in the minivan, I usually don't care if someone fails to yield on the service road, I am coming off and will hit you because it is your fault. (I love Texas Laws. Remember if you are ever in Texas, YIELD to cars coming off the freeway!!) Now in the GS300 I don't put it in the same dangers! It's unique, it's one of kind! Minivan on the other hand, roll that darn thing off a cliff for all I care!!!!
The GS300 is Prussian Red Ruby. I started off hating the color and joked to her about getting it repainted. After a good polish and wax job I love the color. A little PlastX on the light cover's and it looks awesome. I think now it looks better than the paint jobs on most of the brand new cars.
Here's the list of things wrong at first.
No gas pedal -- Just the rod!! -- FIXED
Speed/RPM needles will not light -- It is on way back from Lextech now.
Power Antenna broke -- FIXED
Hood falls on you -- FIXED !
Trunk doesn't stay up -- FIXED !
Driver's seat gear stripped -- FIXED !
Musty AC -- FIXED !
Only 1 Key -- Got 2'nd cheap!
Detailing/Cleaning -- Mostly there
All thanks to you guys here at CL !!!
I never thought I would drive a car 12 years old. A few things fixed, a little cleaning, a little TLC, I have a rock solid car that I want to drive the next 8 years. New leather is on my wish list and then it will be the bomb!
Thanks everyone.

Lead Lap
Welcome, Chance! I have a 1994 GS300 that I bought in 2002. I was determined not to fall in love with it and to get something newer in 3 years. Before I had even driven the car 20 miles, I loved the car. I still have it and plan on keeping it for the forseeable future. So nice and smooth! Enjoy and post some pics when you can.

Loves Snickerdoodles!
Shooot...I got a busted tranny and I still love my car! Now, if that doesn't show first gen love I don't know what does
I'll probably buy another first gen in the future, if not, it's definitely going to be something else from the Lexus family.
Chancel - I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your first gen. It's a great car and I wish you the best with it

The Gen 1 GS are SWEET! Bad tranny of mine and all. I'm with Seize. I couldn't imagine driving something else. Road trips with no fatigue, couldn't get that with any of the cars I've owned. TRUST ME. I'm smitten too!
